I’m looking for a $500ish dollar laptop for doing schoolwork and research projects. Would this be a good computer for this application? Anyone with hardware know-how have suggestions for the best $500ish laptop for college students?
I’m hoping for a machine that can last at least 5 years.

My concern would be 8 GB of RAM. Maybe look for an open box at online or at a store?
