I picked this up for my hobby room last month and I love it.
Forgive my ignorance, but would this sound bar work with my sons’s gaming computer? He said something about having to plug a sound bar into his monitor, and I know he said it would have to be wiried and not Bluetooth. He also mentioned ARC. We bought him a really nice JBL setup, but it doesn’t work with his system. Thanks!
Analog 3.5mm, yes. Digitally, maybe not directly, as most computers will not have an optical SPDIF port.
Bluetooth adds latency which might be fine for watching videos but not so much for gaming as reaction time is a key part of the experience – so rule that out.
Alas, HDMI ARC (audio return channel) is typically NOT used on computer monitors, so that isn’t a direct option either. However, the audio can be split off using a (separately purchased) HDMI audio extractor and connecting its SPDIF output to the sound bar.
Alternatively, a USB to SPDIF adapter can be used too, leaving the HDMI solely for the monitor only.
What was the issue with the JBL setup anyway?
