Very good price for this higher end model of the Samsung A9 plus with 8gb working memory and 128gb internal memory. Lowest price on Amazon is about $10 more. Currently $50 more (but that is high).
Does have bloat ware which many will want to remove for discernibly faster speed.
Good general purpose tablet that is cheaper than an iPAD 10 but somewhat slower if you do not delete the bloat. Going into developer mode and eliminating screen animation and transition lag is useful (I do it as a first step in all my tablets and phones).
With an Antutu benchmark of 410,000 it is about as fast as the S6 FE and much faster than the S6 Lite which I would avoid. It’s single-core score of 908 and a multi-core score of 1,975 on Geekbench 6 places it slightly below the S9 FE (surprised it was even close) for single core but lower for multicore.
Real world use: The 8gb model is worth getting over the 4gb model if you intend to do more than surf and stream. If you multitask and do some productivity apps on Android, 8gb is worth the increased cost. The 4gb model cannot be upgraded into the 8gb model.
The Kindle Fire is not in the same league as the Fires cannot use the Play store (unless you are willing to modify the operating system and void the warranty). The Amazon App store alas has been allowed to become a hollowed out repository of largely no name possibly sketchy apps with no standard browsers or antivirus software. Support for the Amazon Appstore is no longer guaranteed after August this year. I have purchased Fires but only as streaming devices for which they are excellent.
Android upgrades end in 1 year and 4 months (23 Oct 2026). Security updates end in 2 years and 4 months (23 Oct 2027).
Probably something Woot should start listing (like the Chromebooks
)

Is this the international version?
Is this the US or international version?
Morning. It’s the US version.
I ordered this product when it was listed last month. The first tablet arrived, and when I tried to register it with Samsung I recieved a notification that the serial number came up as a stolen product.
I notified woot, and a replacement item was sent. It just arrived, and I am getting the same notification when I try to register. Is there something more that can be done here, or do I just need to send this one back, too, once I’m refunded?
Hi there. Not ignoring you. We’ve reached out to the vendor and they’re looking into it.
Any update on contacting the vendor? I’m having the same issue as dhartfield0, my tablet cannot be registered as it was “previously reported stolen”.
Not yet. It is a holiday weekend though.
UPDATE FROM VENDOR
They tested some of their inventory and hit the same error with a few. They’re going back to their supplier to figure out what happened.
If you received a tablet that is getting the error, reach out to Woot! Customer Service to return for a full refund.
Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.
Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS.
Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.
Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.
Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.
Any update on what happened? I’m getting same error and reached out to support. Sucks having bricked product that I was supposed to take on a trip with my daughter AND missed deals on prime day. What a frustrating experience.
I am unfortunately in the same boat as probably many of you (x 2). I bought (2) of these tablets for my kids for their birthday’s, one on 7/11 and one not until October. The kid who got his this month was working fine for about a week until the message showed up and locked the tablet out.
I submitted a request to support yesterday, before I found this discussion on the forum and still waiting to hear back. Based on ThunderThigh’s post I assumed that the best CS could offer was a full refund upon return of the tablet. While that is good, that does not help me replace the tablet for my son without paying an additional $30 on top of the refunded amount. Like many of you I am sure (if you follow the deal sites regularly) I noticed that Amazon had this exact tablet on sale for the same price during prime days. I contemplated cancelling my woot order and just ordering from Amazon, but I have been with woot pretty much since their inception and have never had an issue like this, so I stayed on the path of least resistance and stuck with the woot order.
I’ll give you all a run down of what I tried outside of woot, so you don’t have to waste time trying. I reached out to Samsung customer service multiple times trying to get them to help me either change the status on their end to unlock the tablet (because the message has an option to download updated status, or another option that has a passkey and you can enter a pin), or replace the tablet through the woot stated " 1 Year Samsung Warranty". None of the reps would budge. I got suggestions of:
- Reach out to the seller (woot), there is nothing they can do.
- Factory Reset - Tried it and the message and lock out reappeared immediately
- Take it to a service center and told they would be able to unlock it - Went down this path and they then told me there was no service center within 100 miles and that I could request to send it off to service center on Samsung's website.
- Went to the website and tried to submit a service request, after logging in the first thing it asks for is the Serial Number. Upon entering that a message pops up and says "According to our records, this product has previously been reported as stolen. Samsung is unable to provide warranty service or support on products that have been reported as stolen."
- After seeing that message, I entered the Serial Number of the other un-opened tablet that I purchased and was met with the same message.
After hours of trying with multiple reps, they all eventually came to the conclusion that the only available course of action was to reach out to the seller for a refund., which as I mentioned above doesn’t replace the tablets that I bought.
All that to say, there is no resolution possible through Samsung and I will just have to wait for a response from Woot CS.
Sorry, no update.
I bought mine as a gift just over a month ago. Today the “this device has been reported missing or stolen” message came up and locked the device. Just contacted Woot customer service.
This really bites since this was a gift. Will likely end up rebuying a new one at a higher price now.
Same here! I don’t understand why Samsung can’t unlock it on their end after providing proof of purchase. Suck since I’ve already purchased and used accessories for it! How did you all wipe it before returning?
I bought the tablet and was able to set it up upon receipt. It worked fine until I tried to use it yesterday. A message on the screen says it is locked because it was reported lost or stolen. I called Samsung and they were less than helpful. They said to contact the seller. I just sent an email to customer service and thought I would check the chat to see if anyone else was having the same problem. The Samsung find my device site shows it is right here. I can even make the tablet ring.
I ran into the same issue with the 3 I bought for my family. I have reached out to customer service to figure out the return process ![]()
