1200+ Miles range
Well that’s not even physically possible. VHF and UHF radio waves are line of sight and barring some freaky atmospheric shenanigans they can’t cross the horizon, so unless this antenna is capable of receiving satellite transmissions (it’s not) there is simply no way that statement is accurate. There’s stretching the truth for advertising, and then there’s out right lying. This is the latter.
Thanks. I was just typing the same thing. The only way that a TV antenna could possibly have a 1,200 mile range is if the Earth was flat (). This is the equivalent of living in Detroit and picking up tv stations from Denver.
Great minds…
Showing my age here, but I’ve been an amateur (“ham”) radio operator since 1998 and while it would be really cool to talk to Los Angeles from here in Atlanta on 2 meter (VHF) without going through a hundred repeaters on the way, seeing that “1200+ mile” statement had me snorting into my morning coffee.
I noticed that the title says 1200+ miles, but one of the images says 900+ miles. Also, in addition to publicly broadcast channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and Fox, it also allows you to pick up HBO???
Yeah, TV antenna have a max range of about 70 miles due to the curvature of the earth. This one may have a range of 30 miles. Also, it lists several cable stations like CNN, TBS, HBO… no this will not get you those stations. Why does Amazon allow false claims?
…that’s too many miles.
I came here for this, but you all beat me to it.
I doubt that that cheap antenna would pick anything up 30 miles away.
I hate BS marketing with a passion. They’ll say anything with no shame.
Maybe they meant cubic miles? Or maybe straight up?
The egg shaped Huawei logo thing is actually meant for capturing extraterrestrial signals. Close range ones.
The horrible grammar and/or translation to English in advertising was the first thing among many things that gave it away to me being false.
And yet…Must be all the flat-earthers.
Works great, as long as close to a window with line of site.
Anytime I see the term, “Warm Tips,” I know the China seller simply ran the description through an auto translator.
Warm steak tips? Mmmm
I reread the description, and I think it’s funny that they say that you can use it in an RV (reasonable enough) or in your tent! Tent? When tent camping, bring along your household television, a generator or battery pack, and this TV antenna.
“Give it to your grandparents or friends as a Christmas present. They will be pleasantly surprised.”
“They will promptly put it in the basement storage closet, where it will pleasantly surprise them for years to come.”
