Nike SasQuatch Sumo 2 Lucky 13 Driver
WAit the write up says:
New and lower NIKE Powerbow technology moves the Center of Gravity (CG) lower and deeper in the club, which increases Moment of Inertia (MOI) to 5300

and it says:
Nike GD0360-001 SasQuatch Sumo 2 Lucky 13 Driver

(the picture shows the MOI to be 4975, which is the Sasquatch, NOT the Sasquatch squared. It is not the matter of an incorrect photo; the copy is also mistaken.
Agreed. If the write up is correct and the picture is wrong, then this should be the club:

Sorry for the large photo, I couldn’t find a smaller one. But it shows a Nike Sasquatch Lucky 13 with (1) MOI 5300 and (2) square design i.e. Sumo2 (Squared). Both of which match the write up.

Still waiting for my email response…

I’m shocked that they don’t even notice that the copy is incorrect as well. It clearly describes the club shown in the picture.

The only thing that was wrong was the club we received.

I’m really dissapointed in the way woot has handled this and think they need to investigate a little more. Maybe have someone who golfs take a look at it?

I have no problem with the driver sent out. If you’re going to be stubborn and say that you still aren’t wrong and just the picture was wrong, so be it. Even so, a partial refund would be in order.

I am pretty disappointed about only receiving $10 back. Like somebody said, if they did it on purpose or not, they had tons of people buy this club and hook them in, and now they are only giving $10 back?

Seems like a punch below the belt to me…

Aggie, where did it mention that we we’re getting $10 back. It sounds from the most recent staff post that their position is that they posted an incorrect image but their description matched the item we got (not 100% true - the description contained incorrect information which further led the customers to believe we were purchasing the square-headed driver).

Since I’m not one of the guys who already had this driver and were misled, I would probably be happy keeping the driver if we were to get a small refund back. However, from the post above, it seems like they’re taking the “not our problem” stance.

Bait and Switch is a SERIOUS issue that requires a SERIOUS response and correction. A $10 Refund is a joke. Perhaps a class action law suit would get the issue escalated to a point where it would be corrected in an appropriate manner. Seriously disappointed Woot!

“In the United States, courts have held that the purveyor using a bait and switch operation may be subject to a lawsuit by customers for false advertising”

Not true - Please go further into the investigation - The pic and description are not accurate.

Thank goodness you don’t sell mail-order brides…

“Sorry for the inaccurate picture…”

I sent them an email a couple of days ago and they just replied after this decision. The choices are…

 1. $10 discount or
 2. Return item for a full refund

I still don’t think that this is enough, am I the only one?

This is completely INCORRECT… (not sorry for the obnoxious capitalization)

The writeup describes the MOI 5300 model. The model that we received is not the one that was described in the product description.

The 4950 model was released in 2007 and has a teardrop design. The 5300 model was released in 2008 and has a squared clubhead along with a COMPLETELY different design. The 5300 has VFT technology whereas the 4950 does not.

The description even says “Sumo 2”… There is no such thing as a 4950 sumo2! It does not exist… The 4950 is a sumo (first gen). The 5300 is a sumo2.

Sorry woot, but this post is completely wrong.

Aggie, thanks for the response. Did they mention how we might go about pursuing these options? I imagine some people would take the $10 back and others would want a refund, but I don’t know how they distinguish.

(Edit: It seems Zero has some good information about the release years and has the naming scheme down too…)

However, I did just get off the phone with Nike Golf to clear up the situation regarding the information given in the item description vs. the product we received. First and foremost, the naming scheme for the range of drivers is such that if there is a number 2 after the Sumo, then it indicated that the driver has the square head. This has been the same across all generations and, though Nike has recently stopped doing this, they did put a 2 after the word Sasquatch to indicate that it was the second generation. On top of that, the advertised MOI of 5300 was DEFINITELY square headed club. Considering that Woot advertised the MOI of a square headed club, NAMED the club as if it were square-headed, and SHOWED US A PICTURE of a square headed club, then there’s no way you can tell us that the description was correct.

I also asked about the model number in particular (GD0360-001). Nike informed me that this was their own proprietary manufacturer number and in no way should have been used to advertise a specific club. In fact, as at least one of you pointed out, there was practically no mention of this model number anywhere online. I had to call Nike and have the CSR look through the product archives to connect this number to an actual club.

Bottom line, both the image AND the description were selling us a square-headed driver. Woot! needs to step up and recognize that they DID NOT verify the correct information about the club before posting the product information and that everyone who purchased this product needs to be provided with a free-of-charge return option at the very least, or a partial refund if Woot! would like to “keep” the sale.

Kudos on making the call to Nike.

Here is the response I received…

"You have read the write up incorrectly. We said, “New and lower NIKE Powerbow technology moves the Center of Gravity (CG) lower and deeper in the club, which increases Moment of Inertia (MOI) to 5300” The 4950 can increase to MOI 5300. We provided the part number in the description (just under the price of the item).
Product:
1 Nike GD0360-001 SasQuatch Sumo 2 Lucky 13 Right-Handed Regular Flex Driver "

Still the picture shows a square head driver and the 2 after the sumo would also indicate that this is a square head driver…no?

I’ll post my next response back…

i just received my offer for the ten dollars off. This was only after I filled out the left side panel on the “write us page”. I will wait to take it to see what comes up from all this info you guys are finding out. Square club would be nice, thats what ui thought we were getting’

I think you can probably rule out getting the square face. It sounds like this is going to end up with partial discount or sending the item back (if even that).

This is the email response I just received from Woot! when I sent them a message asking what our options were:

“The complete write up is for the 4950, which is correct. We listed the incorrect picture is all.”

Seriously? This is your response? You can’t point to a manufacturer’s number that even YOU couldn’t connect with the correct product as your trump card to claim that the description was correct! Luckily, I can do a chargeback on my credit card, but I certainly hope that other people are given the option as well.

I just can’t believe they won’t admit that it was a completely disastrous mistake. Just say “yes, we screwed up entirely” and let us have the correct driver for the price we paid for it.

Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I love woot, I’m so disappointed with how they’re handling this.

This is an unbelievable boner by Woot. Why can’t we have the club we ordered? Why? WHY?

I’ll be honest… the situation as I see it is that they got these clubs at X price and sold them for some small profit (or agreed to sell them for some small profit each). They cant very well get all our clubs back and go buy us the sumo2’s without losing a ton of money. I understand their situation about not being able to get us the clubs… its more wishful thinking on our part.

What I would expect, since they messed up the image AND the description (despite some Woot employees claiming they didn’t), is to offer those who are unhappy a full refund with a prepaid mailing label, and if it seems logical for them (ie if they don’t want to pay for shipping again and have a bunch of extra stock on hand) to offer a partial refund to those who want to keep the club (which they’ve been doing to only some of the people).

It really is losing move on their part to make the “we’re not responsible” claim because the power of the consumer is so high. We have Consumerist, the BBB, blogs, and many other ways to let off some steam which really could turn into bad publicity. On top of that, when a few hundred of us make a chargeback on our credit card or dispute a charge through our bank, that’s a hundred different banks and credit cards companies they have to deal with. Is that really worth it? I wouldn’t think so.

Right from the original post -

 • Max Back technology delivers a lower, deeper Center of Gravity (CG) than the original SasQuatch driver, providing a higher launch angle, low spin and longer distance
 • New and lower NIKE Powerbow technology moves the Center of Gravity (CG) lower and deeper in the club, which increases Moment of Inertia (MOI) to 5300
 • An oversize, 460cc clubhead with Beta titanium face for higher initial ball velocity and larger sweet spot for increased distance and improved forgiveness
 • Multi-material construction with a composite carbon crown to save weight vs. a conventional titanium crown
 • Designed for right-handed golfers
 • Standard 45" length
 • Nike SasQuatch Mitsubishi Diamana Regular Flex
 • Original Nike SQ grip

That is the only place where they meantion the ‘MOI’. I’m sure I’m not the only one who looked up Nike SasQuatch Sumo 2, and then looked only at info about clubs with the ‘5300 MOI’, which is only a ‘square’ head. I’m likely to await some further instruction, but likely I’ll be sending it back, as I was looking for the new-fangled square driver technology.
