Is this listing elegible to purchase a protection plan for it?
This model was originally released back in 2012. Before considering it, I’d like to understand what kind of guarantees there are that a 14‑year‑old camera will still be fully functional, as faults might not be evident during the initial 90 day warranty period. Specifically, I’m concerned about the condition of the battery and how much life could be expected out of such an old battery? Also has the shutter mechanism been inspected to check for material degradation, since shutter failure was a reason I had to trash my D90 camera after a decade of mild use?
Yeah, shutter is probably still fine even after sitting in a box for 14 years. Nikons were still built like Swiss watches in 2012. Battery is a different story; a new genuine Nikon EN-EL15 battery is $70. So assume the end price will be $700. Of the D800/810/850 cameras, I still prefer the D810 as my favorite of the three; you can get a used D810 in excellent condition for $750. A new D800 for $700 isn’t bad, with a low shutter count I would probably choose the used D810.

Still a very capable camera in 2025 if you know cameras. Was hoping for New Old Stock, New In Box with this.. I knew what I ordered. I just didn’t expect to be sent something I didn’t order in the box that is worth only a small fraction of what I ordered. As long as I get a full refund of what I spent to begin with.
Definitely an excellent, well-built camera in its day. Positive reviews even years after it was superseded by successive model numbers beginning in 2014.
It’s a shame that you didn’t get what you ordered. Even if you had to replace the battery; I’ve seen aftermarket batteries online for a fraction of the Nikon version.
Just to confirm, the Nikon D800 is not brand new even though it was listed as brand new?

I am so devastated and sad that woot just canceled my order due to inventory issues! I went on amazon.com to see that they even have 15 in stock. I just ordered 2 photo lenses and it is coming next week too. I was looking forward to using the camera with the 2 new lenses. Doesn’t make sense since I placed the order successfully.

I’m sorry. We can’t take from Amazon or 3rd party inventory. We get a specific amount of inventory flipped over to us and once that’s gone, it’s gone.
Amazon’s inventory count was off or the package was damaged or the item just wasn’t there.
I just got a refund notice, as well. I’m not happy about having lent $664.00 out for 10 days, not to mention interest accrued on my credit card.
Back when 36MP was a ginormous size.
If you accrued interest on a purchase after only 10 days from purchase, might I suggest you switch to a new credit card?
