these are pretty cool, but do people buy more beyond the pair that comes with the console? you can get really good 3rd party controllers cheap, and most games don’t require joycons (and for those that do you can usually use switch 1 joycons)
I got an extra set of joycons when I got my switch 2 and switch 1 at launch. Works well for games that don’t require a full controller like Mario Kart and most Party Games. I like the Nintendo ones because I know I’ll have decent support during the initial warranty.
Yes, so…
I got one extra set. Usually they just go in one of those attachments that turns of into a normal controller.
The reason I got a set of the joycons was to have 4 for something like Mario party.
The jamboree expansion uses the mouse features, or can, and you use the joycons on their side to function like a mouse.
For 99% of people the off brand wireless controllers are proably good enough.
The other reason i bought joycons is because I have 2 on the switch, docked, charging..
And then when the 2 in the controller adapter die I swap.them and let them recharge on the console while I use the other two.
They do have the controllers that the joycons snap into and plug into USB to charge but I wanted to hit a few birds with one purchase.
I basically always play single player things, but now I can do multi player, up to 4, use the mouse for all 4, and have the joycon controller holder for a more controller style feel.
I later bought an actual controller… But the joycon set as the first purchase checked more things off my list than not.
I don’t know if that extreme wheel chair sports game is up to 4 players but that would be the only limitation I have right now that I know of. I don’t know when you would need more than 2 sets of joycons..
Supposedly switch 1 joycons work too, right?.they just don’t have the mouse function… But maybe those work for the wheel chair thing because of the motion sensors?
I am definitely holding off before ever getting a 3rd or 4th set and honestly one of those will probably come via getting my wife a Switch2 since they’re 25% of the cost already.
Four “real” Nintendo Joy-Con 2s for games like Mario Party so there is no, “You only won because I have the fake controller!”
