Harvested 2 years ago, but i don’t see roasting dates or expiration dates stated.
They supposedly roast after woot sends orders. But no clue if that is true or not. I have ordered this twice in the past as we drink a lot of coffee in my household, Empress is what I ordered first time light medium, and they got the order wrong three ways from Sunday. Also note. The price for all 5lbs was 22.99 or 23.99 for the whole lot according to insert sent in box with order. Also note each pic says light medium roast on it. This is not true what so ever, make sure to read each of the 4. If they were all light medium I would order all 4 if Woot would let me. The last time around I tried to order Empress again and it actually came through with a tag of 22.99, or 23.99 for the whole 5 lbs of coffee. Is it good. Well if you drink a lot of coffee than, not to bad, if not. Store the rest in a glass air tight container in a cool dark place, and if this was harvested 2 years ago, it was ruined before they roasted it, as the original bean has lost most of it’s oils, etc, so that would be a no go for anyone who is an avid coffee drinker, coffee fan, etc. Mind you personal opinion only, and we all know how those are now. ![]()
Well, I drink Folgers Classic Roast so……
I’ve bought the “Empress Light Medium Roast” the past few times Woot has offered it. I’m enough of a coffee snob to enjoy brewing from freshly ground beans, but not enough to care about elevation, roasting dates or derivation.
It’s a good cup. It’s smooth even when I brew it strong, and it makes super good cold brew. At $7.50 a pound it’s a good value.
From the specs tab:

Coffee sales are always the best… ![]()

I snagged a bag of Empress last fall when it was on sale, and it was delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I sucked it up and paid full price for another bag through Kroger. If you enjoy that burnt-to-a-crisp Starbucks flavor, Empress is not for you. There are more flavor layers in this coffee than I’ve tasted before, and I’m even (apparently) a coffee snob.
Are these really harvested in 2020, or is that just old copy?
Second that!
Inquiring minds (and potential customers) want to know!
My cousins husband used to be a coffee broker. Folger’s bought some of the lowest grade beans in the marketplace. Eight O’Clock was much better.
With so many choices in the supermarkets I steer away from any coffee marketed by Nestle, P&G or Unilever.
@ramsespride @dgfait hi! I am working with the vendor to clarify, but these are roasted to order!
Hi wooters!
This is from the vendor on the questions around the harvest date!
The harvest date on the beans is in fact 2020, which is very normal. Nobletree stores all their green beans in a professional off-site facility that delivers only their fresh beans to the roasting facility in Brooklyn, NY. This facility with state of the art technology is able to store green coffee beans for long periods of time while still ensuring freshness. Nobletree guarantees their coffee to be fresh and roasts their beans to order for woot.com customers.
Repeating: I. Don’t. See. Roasting. Dates.
If they were also roasted 2 years ago, “best by” date has already passed.
I don’t have any complaints about the provenance of the beans (although i think Rainforest Alliance certification of a plantation not in rainforest is a bit silly), but saying roasted beans are as good 18 months after roasting is not credible.
Roasted to order. That means that you order and roasting is done after that.

$22/lb, huh. I guess that makes simpletons think that they’re getting a bargain at $12/lb.
What’s even going on with this website any more? Who falls for this?
Where are you getting $12/lb?
You can get 5 lbs for $40, or 10lbs for $70.
(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
Ummmmm its like $8 per lb…?
Probably because it hasn’t been roasted yet. Cause they roast it after you order it.
