Wild Anise root. Grows everywhere.
You know those long black burrs that you get on your clothes after walking through dense veg. Find that plant, dig up it’s roots and you can chew on them for some black licorice goodness>>>

Not entirely fond of Licorice, but I DO LOVE Absinthe, and that has an anise forward flavor.
Done right. No fire.

They don’t, but I found a place online several years ago that did. I ordered some for my Mom and she was in heaven!

If you take some high blood pressure meds, real licorice can interfere with them.

My friend came back from Germany with these salty licorice candies
