Origami Foldable Kitchen Island Cart (2 Colors)

Great find-Thanks!

Got it for $84.75 shipped from hsn.com with coupon code 20OFF2013.

The cart is not stainless steel. It’s steel painted a stainless-like color. It comes with casters. Up to you to decide whether to install them. I’ve been looking around for a base for my table top BBQ. This is perfect!

This cart is only 36" tall therefore not tall enough to work at while standing! Even for me and I’m short. Right?

You’d be working at approximately your waist-height which is less fatiguing for those who don’t like to have their wrists bent for a long time (which is counter height for me and I’m 5’6").

I got one of these (in gray) from HSN a couple weeks ago and haven’t used it much yet but here are my comments:

I bought it to use a temporary kitchen island/workstation- in this matter it works VERY well, it is super easy to collapse and it is not lightweight but isnt too heavy either.

The units come with wheels which you can attach or not, I have not yet attached them, I don’t know if I will. Putting the wheels on has it pretty much right at counter height, without them it is a little lower. I rolled pie crust on one the other day and cut carrots another, neither felt uncomfortable to me and I am 5’10".

The gray is definitely like a standard filing cabinet type gray- looks fine but as said by others, it is not stainless steel.

The butcher block top is nice but I would still use another cutting board on it.

I got this for $99 and feel it is worth it at that price, so this isn’t substantial savings from Woot, but every bit helps right?

Thanks for the hint. $85.96 shipped from HSN.com. Plus I got it in white.

re bread making:
Have you tried it for kneading bread dough - is it stable enough? What do you think of the height: 36’ seems like it would be too high for someone who’s 5’ 6"?

the unit being fold-able is really intriguing, but the size seems to be a tad too small for serious work as extra countertop space. If one leaves 3-4 inch on each side as buffer space (because one just never instinctively put things on the edge of a countertop), the remaining space is a bit small. Plus the sheet metal base looks too low rent to leave out all the time.

Sorry, I know I am too late on the Woot deal but maybe the HSN one is good still if you decide you are interested.

When I rolled out the pie dough it definitely rocked or moved a little but I forgot to lock the shelves in to place so I am not sure if that would make a difference- I am not much of a bread dough kneader (I let my machine do that work) so I can’t say how it would stand up to that… I would think it would be fine though because I definitely put a little weight in to rolling out dough.

As for height, 36" is standard counter height so I guess it depends if those feel comfortable or not to you.

My top was not glued on squarely so it looks and feels badly. I am disappointed. Anybody else have that problem? It is also cracked like they tried to get it off after they found out it wasn’t straight.

It looks like these kitchen islands came with a 1 Year Origami warranty. Have you tried contacting then yet?

Mine is cracked in 3 places -not from shipping. Haven’t use it yet. Put it together and put in the closet for the holiday. Pulled it out 3 weeks later and the top is cracked completely through in 3 spots. What gives? I didn’t even get to use this yet! How do you file a warranty claim?

Ugh, sorry about that. Please email support@woot.com for assistance. They’ll guide you in the right direction. Include your Woot username and order number for faster service.

I’d like to add to the cracking complaints here…

I thought the cart was stable, useful, and a great value.

I never put anything hot on it, never got it wet, and it is not near a heat source, BUT, I just returned from vacation, and noticed that the top is cracked in 2 places all the way through the top:

Considering the weight and size of the item, I have no idea how I’m supposed to return it (live in the city/no car/got rid of box before I left for vaca). Ugh.

Ugh. Just looked at my folded cart and I have the exact same problem with a cracked top. The cart was great until it wasn’t…

The cart had just been folded up leaning against the wall doing nothing (also not near a heat source) and the top is cracked in 2 places just like in splendic’s photos.

I received one cart and the top had a huge crack in it. Figuring it was damaged in shipping, I returned it for a replacement through woot. The replacement had two cracks when I received it. Still waiting on a reply from woot to return this one and get a refund. Clearly some sort of manufacturing defect.

Wrote them 4 days ago, plus a follow up and haven’t gotten anything but an automated response so far.

They must be having quite a time figuring out what they want to do with this whole batch of returns/refunds.

Nah, but CS is still swamped from the holidays. They’ll get to your email soon.

Got a response.

Was told to deal with the manufacturer first because the item is out of Woot’s 21 day return window.

So the rest of you might as well start there. I believe the website is: http://www.origamirack.com/frontend/default.asp

And AFICT, the support email is: service@origamirack.com

I’m interested to hear what others’ experience is like getting a fix through them, and will keep updating as well.
