How do you tell whether your kindle fire is a 1st or 2nd gen?

It actually does not matter, the 1st or 2nd Generation Kindle Fire tablets have the same exterior dimensions, so this case will fit either as confirmed the last time these were up for sale.
The Fire HD tablets are a different story, however, and have differing dimensions between generations.
cool that they have a case for kindle fire, but that tablet been around so long that probably anyone who has one have a case already. I sure do have one, and even though this case is cool, the old beat up case is good enough for a tablet that sits around the house most of the time.
