Packaging - Returning large items through UPS pickup

I cannot find an answer anywhere so I am hoping someone can shed some insights/share their experience here.

I need to return 3 giant boxes (arrived as 3 giant boxes when delivered) which contains desktop computers to woot. I cannot return it via self service due to the probability the desktops may contain lithium battery. And when I brough it to the UPS store they say they cannot accept the return bc I was only providing them with 1 label for 3 individual boxes. So I thought I should reach out to Woot and ask for additional return labels, but was told since the packages arrive as a single shipment, I was only issued one return label. As an alternative, woot scheduled a UPS pick up and I was given instruction to attach the one return label to the package (to one package? to all three??) This is the part where I got confused, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to stick all 3 boxes with the same return label, will the UPS driver know how to sort it out? Am I support to put 3 very heavy packages and combine them as one somehow?

Sorry for the messy format I cannot think of a way to condense the question. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. The communication with Woot support had not been helpful. I just want to do the return right because these are very heavy and large packages and I am worried if it’s not done correctly I may not get my money back.

Do desktop PCs contain lithium batteries? Is that a thing?

Edit: The little button battery on the motherboard?
Surely that won’t explode and do any real damage in transit.

Duct tape the 3 boxes together to make one huge box.
Boom.

Probably don’t do this. I would contact woot support and get their suggestion.

I have question about this too, but ultimately decided to be safe

This is not a bad idea. It would make the whole thing gigantic, weight like 60lbs+ total, and may piss off the UPS guy who picks up the package :joy:

UPS definitely requires a unique shipping label for each package. Putting the same shipping label on more than one package is a guaranteed way to get your return rejected due to duplicative tracking scans.

The Woot customer service personnel apparently don’t understand that your order was originally shipped to you in multiple packages and that’s why they believed that you only need a single shipping label. It sounds like a case of misunderstanding.

You’re best bet is likely to reply back to the most recent email from Woot customer service and concisely explain your quandry. Perhaps including photos of the packages to visually convey the need for multiple, distinct shipping labels. Remember, these personnel are located overseas, are likely overwhelmed and possibly not comprehending the facts of your situation.

A Woot staffer may be able to intervene on your behalf, but it may take a while given the holidays.

Good luck, Woot customer service usually ultimately provides one with a satisfactory resolution. They have not let me down yet.

Thank you for the sensible suggestion! I will do the photo thing and hope it explains the situation better. I did try to explain everything via text but you are correct, they are likely overwhelmed by the holiday return frenzy.
