Can someone here tell me what an IP68 iPhone is? I’ve got an older model, but not the IP68…Anyone care to share their experience(s) with the IP68?
Maybe it’s just the iPhone 7, but 6 got hungry and ate 7, but left 8 alone ‘cuz 8’s kinda hardcore and is in a numbers gang and likes to throw signs: !!!
“IP68” isn’t a model of iPhone like an iPhone 7, iPhone 14 Pro, etc. It’s a code for the dust & water resistance of a device, non-apple products included.
Paraphrasing from @pepper114’s link, there are various codes represented by IP##. The first number is dustproof-ness (on a scale of 0 to 6), the second number is waterproof-ness (on a scale of 0 to 9). Generally, a higher number is better resistance against something, so IP67 should protect against water better than IP64, against dust better than IP57, and against both better than IP54. OTOH it should be similar at dust protection but worse at water protection than IP68. There’s some other potential nuances but that’s the gist.
So IP68 means the device is a 6 on the dusproofness scale, described in the linked wikipedia page as:
and an 8 on the waterproofness scale, described in the same link as:
You all are soo genuinely nice! And I truly mean that.
My question was just an effort to be an absolute goofball neophyte and nobody laughed or insulted me. Y’all just instead sent links and explained clearly what everything meant.
Thank you I say.
