“You got it. Tomorrow I’ll start finding out how the townsfolk feel about their duke. I was thinking of sending Candle in to look around and ask questions. He speaks with the local accent and should have an easier time getting the answers we’ll need.”

“Why couldn’t a renegade mage masquerade as a commoner?” Silverwind asked pointedly. “There are a few mages who eventually left the craft. They’d live just like commoners. For that matter, what’s with all this class distinction? There are more rich merchants in this world than there are rich nobles, and money is what buys an education, especially at the University.
