Has anyone tried this?
We noticed that bourbon was listed first on the ingredient list, and we wondering if that made a significant difference in the flavor.
Thanks.
The alcohol listed in this product is “organic cane sugar alcohol.” Bourbon means a vanilla bean varietal, not whiskey.
From Wikipedia: The term “Bourbon vanilla” refers to the vanilla beans’ provenance as being from the Bourbon Islands, most commonly Madagascar but also Mauritius and Réunion. The name comes from the period when the island of Réunion was ruled by the Bourbon kings of France and has no relation to Bourbon whiskey.
No idea how it tastes, sorry.
I prefer the taste of Bourbon vanilla beans but prefer the smell of Tahitian vanilla beans.
Honestly, just spend the extra $12 and make a whole lot more extract on your own at home; it’s super easy but it does take a very long time (passable in a year, great after 2-3).
Our apologies we did not thank you guys sooner for posting. Been busy making airport runs for one of our friend’s family flying in.
Maybe when things return to some-kind-of-normal, we will try the vanilla-bean-route and make our own.
Thanks for posting!
agreed. I get my beans through Etsy. The old ones can be put in sugar to make vanilla sugar.
Thanks. We will try this after we use up the vanilla extract we got at Costco awhile back. We have been trying to make a decent soft-chew, gluten-free chocolate chip cookie . We just can’t get the right consistency yet.
