Is this hose drinking water safe?

Probably not at this price point.

This is a light weight hose that stretches to attain its full length. Perfect for times you don’t want to wrestle with a conventional 100 foot hose.

Having owned an RV that I had to buy drinking water hoses for I can tell you that if it doesn’t say “Safe for drinking water” it probably is not. That particular feature tends to cost extra.

Back in my day…

The good old days when we watched overly violent Saturday morning cartoons in our spontaneously combustible comic book character underwear while sitting next to a poorly guarded electric heater and snacking on lead paint chips.

I turned out <twitch twitch> ok…

I had this hose as part of the Rachio Thrive fertilizer system (since discontinued from Rachio). It’s a pretty solid hose. Expands a lot and seemed to be pretty durable for an expandable hose.

I have no idea if it is drinkable safe. I remember when we didn’t even think about that as kids. We just ran water through it until it ran cold before we drank. Flushing it until the water ran cold probably kept us safe

I bought a SIMILARtype of fiber hose that’s supposed to not kink when its the opposite and kinks so easily. I don’t know if weak water pressure is to blame because the inner hose bends easily cutting off the water supply.

Not trying to be one of “those people” just mentioning the facts.

Sure, you can take a drink out of any old hose in the back yard on a Summer day. When you are using a hose as a primary drinking, cooking, washing, and bathing water supply hose it should to be rated for such use. Some RV parks can get really touchy about what you hook to their “drinking water” bibs because it can backflow and potentially contaminate their system. How bad would it actually be? Probably a lot less bad than the hazmat disaster they act like it could be, still better to not get yelled at like you are trying to start a genocide.

That is new information to me. I had no idea there are different hoses.

Take a walk through the RV section of your local Walmart and you will find, usually white, hoses that say they are for drinking water.

here is an example from the Mothership.

Again, this is not about drinking from the hose while in the backyard on a hot day, these are primarily for use with a camper as a water connection.
