Why does it need the batteries? (It doesn’t specify.)
Wireless keyboards and mice need batteries to work. Since there’s no cord to connect them to a power supply they need batteries.

Because it is modern “fake retro”, not the real thing lol! I did not expect wireless. (Although they are pretty cool looking!)
I use wired keyboards and mice with my Windows 98 and Windows XP computers and consider those pretty retro.
