Here we go again.
Anyone have a link to the game titles?
We’ve had our top men working 'round the clock (well for about 12 minutes) - and have obtained this game list.
Oh good had my favorite games “making love” “nuts milk” and “poker”
Clearly a bootleg Nintendo… Is this legal? Kinda shady of Woot!..
Patents are expired. Names, slogans, and phrases are protected by trademark which is renewable. The games almost certainly violate copyright “Super Mario Bros” lol. Filing a lawsuit probably isn’t feasible because the costs would massively outweigh the settlement. Nintendo probably doesn’t make millions of dollars off NES any more and damages are mostly related to your actual loss.
“Dejectile” and “Glommy Chess” also sound like winners to me!
Oh wow, another piece of Coolbaby famiclone garbage.
It seems that once woot got bought by Amazon, they stopped carrying anything good.
Seriously? Woot’s selling knockoff consoles full of stolen games now? What’s next guys, bootleg DVDs?
Woot has sucked for a while now but this is the last straw for me. I’m done.
More fun to make your own
I would buy one of these crappies if it were a portible unit with its own screen
Seriously? Lame as _ _ _ k Woot. You KNOW this is bootleg garbage. This only hurts YOUR brand.
Since Woot clearly won’t listen and stop selling such junk, perhaps potential customers will…
STOP BUYING THIS GARBAGE!
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
Not only is this a horrible fake console, but most of the games are not even the original roms. They are usually hacked up homebrew, or incomplete. Not to mention even though this thing has HDMI, it’s just using an internal converter to put out composite over the HDMI, so the picture quality is pretty bad.
every time these units come up the wanna-be copyright police come raging their social justice. i don’t know which one is more annoying.
I thought these are raspberry Pis and the roms are open source and available on the internet. The copyright conversations I have seen have to do with a person who has the original games but nothing to play them on. These are supposed to be able to emulate the old consoles so you can play the old games. I don’s see any copy righted software here but then again I only see the list I have not seen the actual unit… One other thought, there is no way IMO Amazon or Woot would sell bootlegged stuff and risk the fines or ramifications. Basically this is a Pi built to act like a console that is able to play a lot of the old games. Just do a YouTube search on Pi Emulators… now if you personally download bootleg games to play on this unit… …
Considered this for about 6 seconds, till I realized (like shortdog said) these aren’t even the original ROMs! For under $40 I could live with generic copycat hardware, but I want my original Nintendo ROMs and not some phony, half-baked knock-off.
The last time was 800 games.
Woot alternates.
Where people named Ted talk about Ted?
Do not count on it being a Pi. There is no manufacturer name or model information, so no way to verify. Most (all?) of these NES knockoffs are Nintendo-on-a-Chip (NOAC) package with hard-soldered and epoxy covered components. See http://jmp.no/blog/cool-nes-baby .
