These things are AMAZING. I love fresh grated cheese, not the powder coated crap you get at the store, but I hate grating cheese. This makes is so easy and fast. Yes, sometimes cheese can get stuck in the grates or in-between the grate and the outer plastic cylinder, but it’s super easy clean up. Just don’t soak for too long as the metal can rust if you leave it sitting in water for long periods of time. My only complaint would be that, except for the metal grating part, they’re all plastic and I’ve had the handle break on one, and the part below the outer plastic cylinder that slides into the base. The good news is they’re so inexpensive it’s not hard on the wallet to replace as needed; I just keep 2 in stock at all times. I do find that the locking mechanism doesn’t hold for long, and I sometimes have to re-engage it. I have granite countertops, and I’ve learned that my counters aren’t 100% smooth, so I think that contributes to the locking mechanism losing its grip from time to time. All in all, it’s not perfect, and it’s not a kitchen item that’s going to last you a lifetime, but given the cost I still feel it’s worth buying. I’ve gifted several of these to family members, and they all love them. It’s also kind of a fun way for younger kids to join in the family meal prep. Maybe I have odd nieces and nephews, but when I get this thing out to grate cheese, they always want to do it, so I think they find it fun to use.
