If you already HAVE a Ring Camera, I assume you’ve already seen their public disclosure that they no longer allow you to record and playback events if you don’t have an active monthly-purchase-plan. So if someone steals something off your porch, you don’t have any PROOF. They are FORCING people to buy packages. I’m flushing their app, and finding a BETTER one if I have to BUY one.

If you have the control module and a thumb drive (both of which are one-time purchase and aren’t expensive), it will store them locally on that. That way you can still have that recording feature and not pay the monthly charge. The only thing you can’t do is record live video when you select to look through your camera to see what’s going on outside your home.

It’s only $100 a year and that also includes alarm systems.

I miss the days of “Buy it once and now YOU own it”… the current “hands-forever-in-your-wallet” ranks right up there with planned obsolescence (if we made it RIGHT you’d never have to buy another one, and OUR business hits a wall). Like with tires - there are some (very few) out there still good after driving 30 years (approximately when they figured out the RIGHT stuff)… non-disclosure agreements prevent us from hearing anything about this.
