Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Gen)

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery (3rd Gen)

You better not send me a battery one when I specifically ordered the plug-in model.

Can we use this outdoors? Also, is the Battery unit is rechargeable Battery if i can use it with buying and installing a solar thingy

Yes, this one is good for outdoors. The battery is rechargeable and does work with the solar panel, but you could also recharge the battery without a panel.

I, personally, like the plug-in ones so I don’t have to worry about charging.

Ring in general is a croc. I have stick-up cams outside my home. They work great, when they work. But you must install them high up so no villain can remove/tamper with them. Then every time your internet or power goes out, so do they. And THEY DO NOT COME BACK ONLINE. You have to get a ladder and pull off the bottom, and push a button, to reconnect them. This is great fun in the snow, sleet, and ice. Other brands automatically go back online. Why not Ring? They have known this is a big problem for years, and they are “working on it” for over 3 years now. This is a major Ring fault, in my opinion.

I have 7 Ring camera devices. (all wired models) None of them have this issue you describe.

You might look into a UPS for your router. Maybe the issue is the time at which the ring devices come back up, but your router has not fully rebooted and something about it is not accepting device connections? Maybe it would depend on your router model…

Hi. I have a Ring wifi extender within 8 feet of each camera. I have a very strong wifi signal. All cameras are solar powered, and stay between 95-100%. All my other devices, Echo, Govee, Tp-link, amazon switches and plugs, come back on automatically. My problem is a very common one. Check out the forum on Ring.com.

Link didn’t go to forum. Maybe just an issue for the battery ones. Which would make sense since they’re battery powered they don’t actually lose power and there’s nothing telling them to re-initiate the wifi connection. Whereas wired ones not connected to UPS will restart and automatically reconnect.

I still think a small UPS for your modem/router would help them stay connected since they would both have battery backup. Also would still send alerts during power outage.

Agreed i have 5 other devices all wired and don’t have to worry about the battery life.

Not sure how long these battery lasts before every recharge, hence I’m planning to install them with solar panels but only acceptable condition panels left now. I don’t want to get them and dead within a month or two.

I pulled the trigger on the stick up battery cameras but will hold off for the next used sale for the solar panels and get very good condition one’s.

I have 2 Ring Stick up Cam Battery cameras (2ndGen) and have zero issues connecting them to my wifi. If the power goes out, then yes they aren’t recording and I cannot view. But once the power comes back on, they automatically connect back to my network. They have been through rain and hurricanes. No issue with my cams. I just connected them to the small solar panel and they are staying charged b/w 90 and 100%.

Are the battery’s that come with these brand new?

I have 4 ring cameras all plug in and have never had this problem with power outages.

Batteries are tested and replaced if needed.
