Samsung reports this “only” has 270 nits brightness. Compared to the TU872 that’s also on Woot, this one is a bit brighter, a bit higher contrast, has Freesync, but does not have HDR.
I’d favor this monitor over the TU872 … until I discovered “black smearing.” I probably wouldn’t mind it, I don’t use dark mode in anything, but if I don’t need to put up with it, why would I? Still debating since these are good prices.
Re. the 100-monitor joke, I suspect once the ultra-light VR headsets come out with around 4k per eye (a few years yet) then monitors will start to die since you’ll have effectively unlimited screen space in a very portable form.
