Oh, I really hope TT is still monitoring the comments…
I am really, really leery of buying refurb cell phones on Woot! nowadays. It used to be that buying Woot! refurbs meant you were getting something that had been checked an cleared by a tech. Whatever sort of oversight or care Woot! was exercising seems to have gone away completely, and the last three phones have just been returns that were repackaged and sent out probably without even have been given any check.
I bought an s10, which had serious performance issues and a non-functioning fingerprint scanner. Woot! could not replace it, so I upgraded to an high-gig s10 plus. That arrived with serious screen burn-in, so I asked for and was sent a replacement. That phone arrived locked to an EBay employee’s work account, which would relock the phone every time it connected to the internet, even after being factory-reset three times. After all that, the solution was “oh, well, send it back and we’ll refund.” Not the most imaginative solution after three failures, for a longtime Woot! member. That means more time with no phone.
So, there’s this phone listed. No way to tell if it is the same refurber.
I guess it’s phone roulette- will you get a phone that has actually been refurbed or tested, or are you basically buying blind and hoping you will not need to return it?
There may be three Samsung Galaxy s10s in your next boc, but don’t get excited.
Hi there. Sorry for the string of bad luck. I’ll send this on to our team so they can discuss with our vendors.
Thank you for the reply, TT. It’s good to know there’s still institutional memory at Woot!.
I’ve ordered one of these phones, and we’ll see how it is once it arrives. I hope I’ve just had bad luck, and this one will work fine…
I’m leery of any used phone. I have a daughter and grandgirls and see how they’re treated.
TT, I have emailed customer service about the new phone.
