Does this work with iOS iPhones?

Everything I’m seeing in the Q&A and reviews on Amazon say it doesn’t work with iPhones.

No. It runs Wear OS and needs the companion app to setup.

I briefly had one of these (but didn’t like certain things).

Sadly, it DIDN’T use the Wear OS app, but relied on the Galaxy Wearable app.

Yeah…

Even though Android Wear (later rebranded to Wear OS) and Samsung’s Tizen platform watches, work with iOS, for various reasons, the Watch4 DOES NOT.

This is a great deal assuming it’s a new watch which is what I did. I have a Garmin vivoactive 4 but I am looking forward to the Samsung EKG. I have heard the Samsung has a worse battery life so I’m not giving away my Garmin until I check out the Samsung for a few weeks.

I got an LTE classic for under this price. It arrived Monday.

As usual nothing fancy about this…

Direct from Samsung without any deals/trade-in?

My bad. I own this exact watch but mislabeled the OS. Can confirm it doesn’t work though. To be fair an Apple watch has barely any functionality when not paired with an iPhone. The Watch4 can run by itself fo quite a while with built in wifi and LTE once setup. You can even make calls and texts! Not sure how OTA updates are handled though.

The Samsung relationship with WearOS is interesting.

Samsung was one of the first 2 companies to release Android Wear devices (the predecessor to Wear OS) alongside LG, and they supported Android Wear.

They eventually shifted to Tizen, with mixed results.

Now, they’re back to WearOS, being one of the top collaborators with Google on the platform, but it’s not fully WearOS (in my opinion), since it doesn’t use the WearOS app, thus preventing numerous features from being taken advantage of.
