For the record, I wouldn’t connect this DVR to the internet, EVER. We had a dvr by this company and it was like a beacon for hackers. It and the majority of Chinese manufactured surveillance systems have open passwords built into them that have mostly all been exploited making it to where it’s just a matter of time before a web crawler locates it and traffic heads straight for it.
They never even provided a single update for it in over five years as I assume they never bother updating them. They all run the same firmware, they just rename it for their particular device. That goes for their phone apps too. It’s got at least some advantage in that if you don’t have it hooked to the internet and someone is blocking your WiFi to burglarize you, it will still record if they haven’t disabled the camera, and at least you can still view while your WiFi is down if you’ve got it attached to a monitor.
We ended up hooking ours up to an old router that wasn’t connected to the internet, so we could view it locally, but even then it wasn’t very reliable after about 2 years.
