Seagate 8TB IronWolf NAS 3.5" Hard Drive

in the specs, it says “Drive Bays Supported 1-8 Bays”… I assume that should not be there?

The manufacturer specs IronWolf NAS Hard Drives | Seagate US don’t recommend it for a larger-than-8-bay NAS. That may be due to concerns about heat/vibration for that model when more of them are stacked together, or just marketing.

thanks, now I understand, didn’t know about that vibration thing.

this is exactly correct.

Anybody else received a 2 years old HD
ST8000VN0002 (NAS drive) instead of what is advertised
ST8000VN0022 (IronWolfe)? Found out when HD already in the NAS.

Confirmed both drives are the old model.
If you plan to keep it, the only difference in spec is 5,900rpm instead of 7,200rpm. Shouldn’t make a lot of difference in a NAS setup. But definitely not what was advertised.

Crap! Same here  Dangit, Woot! Submitting a customer service case now. Not cool

Hi all. We apologize for the error in the sale specs.

You should have an email from Woot customer support soon.

Unfortunately drive received is two years old and have firmware SC60, which create in most of those HD a buzz sound.

Firmware is not available on Seagate website for personal update. Please check properly you drive.

I’m ok with buying previous model but if they have been manufactured two years ago and don’t have the latest firmware fixing issues that concerning. Some else bought the same drive fromm other ship for $178 earlier this week. HD is also two years old but has firmware SC61 with not issues.

A week of time lost. Hope for better luck next time.

I picked up two early on in the sale and they’re both SC61.
