JUST ordered a new one of these, due to arrive on Wednesday. My 18-year old with a learner’s permit and no wheels of his own yet has a job starting up that’s about half a mile away from home. Doesn’t seem like much, but it seems safer to be on one of these rather than walking to and from. Not to mention it is BRUTALLY hot in the summer, and the less physical activity he’s gotta do en route to work, the less sweaty he’ll be upon clocking in.

We’ll let y’all know how it goes!

I used to live about a mile from work and enjoyed riding my bike there and back. It was one of those “on your feet” all day jobs and walking home after sucked.

Yep, I was a bike commuter for YEARS… then I moved out of the super small town that had everything within two miles and have been car-bound ever since. We do still have a good grocery store and a couple corner shops within half a mile tho, so we’ll walk to those occasionally, but yeah, I’m not biking/scooting these busy roads 8 miles away for sure. :confounded:

Mine arrived today. I was hoping for a near-new unit as Segway clears stock to make way for the impending MAX G2. Nope. What I got was what looks like a used unit, thrown in a seriously beat-up Segway box. With one piece of styrofoam protecting the rear wheel, and then stuffed with those small inflatable air pack bags.

I often buy refurbished products and usually they show up looking good, maybe some scuffs on the box and a missing manual. This was a used scooter, still showing 40 miles on the odometer, roughly repacked in the box then re-sold at a premium with nearly no warranty. To top it off, it came without the “mickey mouse” cord and with a slow-as-molasses 1.7a external charging brick (which ALSO was scuffed–lol).

If this was an E-Bay seller I’d take it as a warning to not do this again, but to get this kind of merchandise from Woot is disappointing. This is not refurbished, it’s just a used product put back in the box like an “acceptable” Amazon Warehouse return.

Would like to second what wildfire said. Just unboxed this scooter and it was a similar experience. The box it came in is pretty beat up and the scooter is mildly scuffed. The real disappointment is that the scooter was the only this in the box. No accessories. No charging cable. No charger. No valve stem extension. Not even screws to attach the handlebars to stem. This scooter is useless until I go out to the hardware store and buy the rest of the equipment I need to use it. Would have made more sense to buy it new. I’ve purchased refurb items from Woot before and have always been satisfied, not this time though.

So far it’s been a little challenging to get the hang of, especially navigating the turning, but otherwise a fantastic buy! Very sturdy, great safety features (lights, reflectors, bell), speed is nice and steady.
