This product should probably be avoided at present, given the state of Sengled.
I can’t say for sure it won’t work but it does indicate the app is needed which - I believe - at the moment is non-functional and Sengled accounts can neither be created nor accessed.
It might work Solo as a lightbulb, but I doubt you’ll be able to set it up as a speaker. My old Sengled Z-Wave bulbs work with Alexa using Bluetooth and my Echo devices as a Matter hubs, but Amazon discontinued support for the Sengled skill in Alexa a couple months ago. And, if you look at reviews for the Sengled apps on Google Play, you’ll see a ton of recent complaints about not being able to use them at all.
The app is not just non-functional for now, Sengled is basically defunct. Their servers have been shut down and they pretty much have gone completely silent. That’s why Amazon ended the skill.
These won’t even make good paperweights.
Huh.. it sounds like these could just work as BT speakers without needing the app. Hard to say for sure, but from what I’ve been able to find on the Sengeled site, it sounds like it should work that way. The light part definitely needs the app to change any of the light settings.. could work just as a basic bulb without the app, but that’s not worth the price.
Put these back up for sale and mark them down to $5 a pack and I’ll buy a couple packs to mess around with. And I won’t even bother trying to return them if they don’t work.. it’s worth $10 to me to be able to try. Might even be able to hack/flash them to work with another app or some other method to control them.
