For reference for anyone, here is the amazon page. Last time I asked them if this camera required internet access or if you had any way to access it over the local LAN. The short answer is you can only access these cameras through the website. Even the app just connects to their web servers, and not actually directly to the cameras. This is stated as to make it easier to set up. Personally I was not fond of the concept of a camera that is guaranteed to feed all of the video from my house to somebody else’s server, so I passed on these cameras. For the local based cameras, they suggested their Pipcams instead. I can’t seem to find the link now, but it was a nice list of the companies that are owned by whichever group it was, and that includes both SereneLife and Pyle and a few others.
Thanks for pointing out the video has to go to their server. Thats a non starter for me. Don’t need someone else looking at surveillance of my home.
Got a couple of these last time Woot offered them and have had no problems. Real easy to set up. Picture is very clear. My dog gets lonely and curious throughout the day while she’s alone and I can keep an eye on her and can talk to her with the 2way communication ability offered with this camera.
thanks for that info… logging on to someone else’s servers to access my home surveillance is just creepy.
If I’m going to be creepy doing surveillance, I don’t want to share it! ![]()

I am the PM for the cameras. You are correct - the cameras work through a managed account with our server.
It is the easiest solution for the user because one login allows you access to all of your cameras on the mobile app or on the web. That also means no additional configuration in the wireless router to set up port forwarding for remote access.
Passwords for the account are secure. We cannot access your account for troubleshooting unless you provide us your account details. I would be happy to answer any other questions about account security. Feel free to ask here or email me!
Thanks!

Ryan,
Can these be powered on/off through the app? Can they be mounted on a vertical surface?
Thanks!
Can these cameras be used outside or thru a clear window?
Will this work with Just an IPhone & what you send me; I have no wi-fi or internet on my computer/Mac only Data on iphone
No, you will need wireless internet access.
The cameras currently do not have a setting to disable the IR lights (need this to use through a window at night without glare) - I will check with the engineer to see if it is possible with a firmware update.
They can not be powered on or off through the app - must be powered on. However they use a low bandwidth setting when not in use.
The cameras are not waterproof. Do not leave outside exposed to weather.
You can mount the camera vertically - the screen orientation can be adjusted to your preference.
You will need a wireless router connected to a modem for it to work.
Here to help if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Ryan P
