They keep mentioning Modeno in all of their advertising but have no statement as such on their bottles or packaging. I like when companies mention the standard so you think they are also using the standard. But are really just trying to confuse you.
No age statement. Complaints of watery brown white vinegar lead me to believe this is the same tourist trap, oil and vinegar store, that sells all manners of “flavored” “authentic” balsamico, but are just dumping fake flavors and caramel coloring.
Not saying that is what is going on here, but if it walks like a duck.
Just went to the web site - same bottle costs $30. So the $36 here is misleading… savings on bottle price is only $6.
Same thing - HOW LONG has this actually been aged? All the sales blurbs aside, provide actual numbers. Right now I wouldn’t buy this stuff as it looks like its just fancy relabeled supermarket vinegar.
The retail price for Gourmet items includes shipping costs, as Woot includes it into the price.
(When I enter my zip code on their site, shipping comes up as $9, though it’s probably different for other people.)
If its walking like a duck I believe it went a little fowl.
Though I’d still suggest seeing somebody about that.
Presuming their customer service reps are providing accurate answers to the Q&As on their website:
- Our balsamics all come from Modena, Italy! They are shipped to us in barrels, for bottling and infusing.
- Our Traditional Balsamic has no added colorings of any kind. In addition, we do not add starches/thickeners to any of our balsamics.
- All of our Dark Balsamic Vinegars are barrel aged for 25 years!
