I got this same version about 18months ago here and when it works, it works well. We have several pets who make messes daily and with a M-F schedule it keeps our house relatively clean, it goes back to the dock when it needs to empty the vacuum or re-charge if it hasn’t finished cleaning.
However with that being said, here are issues that I have had:
- The robot occasionally looses the map. It knows where it has been, but the room names disappear, which means you can’t tell it to clean only a single room till you re-program the map.
- The robot seems to get stuck on a lot of things compared to the previous robot I had. I can’t go a week without having to rescue it from being stuck somewhere.
- When something gets stuck transferring from the robot to the base, the robot will just sit there without any indication there is something wrong. The app will have the notification that there was an error, and if you are in the room when the error happened or when it tries to start next it will alert you, but unless you check the app daily or are around, you won’t know the vacuum isn’t running till you see dirt it isn’t cleaning.
- The App leaves a lot to be desired. You can’t schedule by the room, just an all or nothing cleaning per schedule, this is true of both Android & iPhone versions. With the latest Android update, there are a bunch of new issues where you can’t see the history and you can’t clear the fault log on the app. When I tried to re-set the robot after it lost its mind one time I couldn’t do the initial setup with my Android phone, only my work iPhone was able to do it. The iPhone version was still working properly last I used it.
Thank you for your experience. I’m trying to decide if one of these guys would work for me. I vacuum daily 90% hardwood floors. My husband has allergies and we have large dog. Are any of your animals afraid of vacuums and if yes how do they react to this guy?
I’m afraid even if this machine wasn’t too much of hassle if my dog would attack it or be scared to death of it
I can’t seem to find if there is a return policy for this item? I see there is a warranty but what if you just plain don’t like it and want to return it. Is that an option? Thanks!
Hi there, here’s a link to Woot’s return policy.
I bought one in a previous woot and it wasn’t working right. I have seen lots of negative reviews regarding shark/ninja customer service but I called and went through the rigmarole with them and they sent me a brand new one. I am quite pleased with it.
Pass on this.
I bought the same one from Woot a while back and it’s not great. Shark customer service is actually pretty good but the robot itself is lacking in so many ways, even for the discounted price, that it’s worth buying something else.
Missed rooms (it’s apparently very light sensitive - if you have a dark room it might skip it completely), screwy app performance on a current android flagship…it cleans but sometimes just seems to go or do whatever it wants without following the map.
Thanks for all the reviews, everyone! I’ve been in the market for a self-emptying Shark or Roomba for a bit but based on the reviews above, I think I’ll pass on this one and wait for a good deal on a higher model.
I know my mom recently bought one of the nicer Shark vacuum/mop combos and she loves it. Might have to ask for one for Christmas. ![]()
Im on my third one. The first died after 2 years of Being run nearly every everyday. I have 2 right now.
It’s not a great vacuum cleaner. I think of it more as a broom with light vacuuming capability. The best part is it empties itself. where I had to empty my neato two to three times per run I empty the base on the ones I have right now about once or twice a month. Thease keep our main level and basement very clean. We do run them everyday on the main level and every other day in the basement. We used to have two dogs and we have only one now but even with the two dogs the vacuums did just fine.
It’s the place that makes them a great value for me. I could get a Roomba but I have not found one that empties itself for anywhere close to this price. I bought a Neato for nearly $600 brand new before I bought the sharks. I was using the Neato primarily for our bedroom after getting the sharks. Prior of that, within a Year’s use the neato was repaired under warranty for some weird problem. Now after using it in the bedroom for just over a month the same problem has returned and it is no longer covered by warranty.
These need light as they use cameras no navigate. They cannot be used in the dark for example when everybody is asleep. Sometimes the robot on our main level will get lost because it’s base is placed by a window. I’ve noticed that when the window is shut and there’s no light coming in through it, it sometimes has difficulty finding the base.
I don’t think the app leaves a lot to be desired. It’s worked pretty well for me. Yes, I do wish that I could schedule which room should be cleaned on what day. Unfortunately the app does not support that. This means the robot has to work a lot more each day. The first one broke down purely because it got worn down. That’s how much we ran it.
Every time the shark self-empty robots come on woot I find myself writing positively about them. I do understand the negative reviews. If it is perfection you seek then move on.
Haven’t looked into the self emptying ones yet. I can say my eufy from walmart far surpasses the last 2 or 3 irobots ive had for a quarter of the price. Neato didn’t work well for us, but that was close to 7 years which is probably a lifetime in robot cleaner years. If you dont need the self emptying feature, look at eufy.
I bought the same unit worked great for a while. Almost a year and a half old it stops all the time. If you turn it over and roll the wheels and turn the brushes it runs for a while and stops again. Of course when I called the warranty was out and I was offered a 20% discount on a new one
If your mom likes the vaccum/mop combo, please drop the name of it here. My dog is a fur monster and has started drooling in his old age, so mopping is becoming more and more necessary. Tiny 750sq ft condo so I’m not terribly worried about missed rooms and stuff, just can it tell between rugs/hardwood and can it navigate around his food bowl/toys/his lazy behind. ![]()
Just asked and she says she has the “Shark 2 in 1 2600 model” which the closest I can find to that is this:
https://www.amazon.com/Shark-Mopping-CleanEdge-Technology-RV2610WA/dp/B0B8B6N2G4
She has and fosters cats, so it does seem to work well on pet hair, and she has combo carpet / hardwood and it seems to handle that well too.
