I’m really tempted to think this is a Chinese copy of a Tanaka/Hitachi type trimmer.

But what’s odd is I think the Tanaka/Hitachi trimmers are already made in China.

So this is actually a Chinese copy of a Japanese designed, but Chinese manufactured trimmer.

But wait there’s more.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. When the scooter factories in China started making their versions of Japanese engineered Suzuki motors, they actually built them to a comparable quality.

Seems like a fair price for a gas trimmer that is potentially built on a proven design.

It’s junk. If it lasts one season you’ll be lucky.
Spend the extra money and get a Stihl.

Don’t be a slacker,
Buy a weed whacker.
But get a new Stihl,
it’s a much better deal.
They are a real firecracker.

Side note to whom it may concern regarding a recent unexpected UPS delivery. Thanks for the box of cash! It made my day.

I own the curved shaft Shimaha trimmer
No issues runs great
The straight shaft is a better deal and you get all the extras
At this price it is a great buy

The cheap knock offs usually require an odd fuel/oil mixture like 25:1, so if this is needed you will need to have a separate gas can, as running 50:1 will ruin it very quickly.

It will probably be louder and more powerful than any other trimmer you’ve ever used for that size of engine. I would not be surprised it doesn’t come with emissions.

My only concern would be parts but at this price who cares.

Per the linked specs, it uses gas/oil mix (40:1 fuel to oil ratio).

Spec sheet says:

“Uses gas/oil mix (40:1 fuel to oil ratio)”

50:1 would be fine, more is hardly ever a problem, but you don’t want to run them too lean.

50:1 is more fuel, not more oil.

50:1 when it requires 40:1 will NOT be “fine”. The only lubrication the engines get is from the oil in the fuel. Going to a 50:1 mixture is less oil to lubricate than recommended and that may not be good for the engine.
