Simple Plus+ 2Pack 20V 6.0Ah Replacement Batteries

I’m just not trusting my DeWalt tools to taped up 1.5 rechargeable double a batteries in a plastic case just because it’s yellow and black.

I’d want to know the electronics inside and if there is overcharge protection, current regulation, overheat protection, certified by a DeWalt and an enforceable fire protection policy for my dwelling and vehicles.

I guess you could call me risk adverse.

I guess you shouldn’t be even using the originals, as DeWalt’s warranty specifically states:

DEWALT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

If something happens, the most they’re going to be liable for is the product itself.

DeWalt has a very robust warranty. You are not correct.

AI Overview

DEWALT can be held legally responsible if a fire is caused by a defect in their battery or charger, particularly a manufacturing or design flaw. However, the consumer would generally need to prove that a defect in the product, and not misuse, was the cause of the fire.

Feel free to read the terms right from DeWalt – because that’s where it was quoted from.

I trust the AI response much more than the opinion from someone without legal experience. Sorry

I trust all things battery related from @narfcake. Given the amount of bad press around AI lying and making things up, I wouldn’t trust it any further than I could spit.

Okay I’m going to State the obvious here. The word generally is used because most issues with lithium batteries are caused by the end user. Now that doesn’t mean that batteries can’t be manufactured defective. However if you had access to the Lexus Nexus database, you would see that there are many lawsuits that have been filed against DeWalt for battery malfunction claims and a few that were approved valid, DeWalt did pay for personal property. I also bounced this argument to my brother-in-law which is a product liability lawyer. He agreed that if it is truly a manufacturing defect and not caused by any Fault by the consumer, DeWalt would be liable and incur product liability.

This is a debate I really wasn’t planning on having on a Thursday afternoon. Let’s both just start drinking and get ready for the Thursday night game! Have a great holiday.

This is trolling right? If not we are cooked as a species. Now I’m just sad.

Imagine my delight seeing "Discussion (9 posts) only to wander into that sh!t-show…

To anyone who came to this thread looking for discussion on battery quality, you can skip the 9 posts prior to this.

In this thread so far is basically a guy who admits he likes fancy beer saying he doesn’t trust generic beer to not give him colon cancer. And if it did, he takes comfort knowing he could pursue litigation against the brewer, as he knows their name/size vs. whoever makes the generic stuff.

Someone else mentioned he’d be hard pressed to win the case.

He side stepped and said, but it could happen.

Someone else showed him, effectively, he would have the same burden of proof whoever brewed the beer.

He side stepped again, mentioned a (admittedly, massive) fancy database, and a family friend, who also effevtively agreed that the same rule in plqce irrespective of any of the prior dialog, is indeed in place, despite that point not having beej in contention.

Then he coyly departed with an appeal to shared loves of football and ethanol.

So, as it happens, I love generic beer, particularly when it’s 1/8th the cost of normal beer, and still gets me to roughly the same place.

Does anyone have any experience with these, yet, or is this the usual “either I get a great deal, or woot customer service says I can throw them away and have my money back?” coin flip sound

Note: I take no issue with any previous poster’s personal opinions. Value systems are individual, you don’t have to have them all align. Particularly if you want to feel secure in your own choices about overspending on fancy beer, so much so, you need to crap on other beers.
