SimpliSafe 10-Piece Wireless Home Security System

SimpliSafe 10-Piece Wireless Home Security System

This picture is of the older system not the newest small systems with a small modern monitors is this a refurbished unit or new unit I traded my old for new and I’m much happier with the new system

I have the 1st generation, what is the benefits of you updating to the new models?

Sorry, but I’m having trouble understanding your post. We are selling a new unit.

Seconding the notion of getting the latest gen system. This system’s monitors are huge, especially the window /door entry monitors - our blinds would knock them off constantly. Additionally, no light up keypad is annoying when you come home to a dark house, and the setup on the newest edition was a breeze. It wound up being like $400 for the new system (I have a lot of entry sensors, basically covering the entire first floor, because the motion sensors are a little iffy with pets…set them to lowest sensitivity and no false alarms since, but still concerned about another false alarm), but worth it over the older model, imo.

Sorry Woot, I’m generally not a detractor of sales on your site, but…

This is actually the gen 2 system, the latest is the gen 3 system. Although the gen 3 system is a lot nicer, nicer enough that I did upgrade to it recently, the gen 2 system is perfectly adequate and this is a great price for it. The gen 3 system does have smaller sensors and lighted keypads, which is great, but I had no complaints with the gen 2. Setup on both is simple, and Simplisafe has no contracts to get trapped in.

If I would buy this system and then want to add more sensors from the SimpliSafe site, would the new gen 3 sensors work with this gen 2 base station?

Definitely would like to know which generation this system is (1st,2nd,or 3rd) and the answer to the interoperability question on what sensors generation wise will or won’t work with this system?

Latest gen sensors/components will not work with older gen sensors/components.

This appears to be a “new” unit of the 2nd generation. It is a good deal. You can add other components through Simplisafe.com. The biggest bother is the lack of backlight on the keypad. However, you will probably gain “muscle memory” and dial in your passcodes (you can have many). The sensors attach with a 3-M 2 sided tape that does not damage wall/paint. They do not fall off from curtains. Some entry sensors require an odd battery, but they don’t burn through them very fast. Key pads are AA batteries. I have had boxers in my home, never setting off motion sensors. This connects to cellphone networks, so cutting utility cables doesn’t bypass the alarm. This system appears most suited for small apartments.

Since much more is lost to fire and smoke damage than to theft each year, can anyone tell me if there is a smoke detector available that will work with this version?

Yes, there is a smoke detector available for this system.
