If i have an older system can I use these cameras and sensors with it?

My understanding is that the older and newer systems do not work together. I started with the old one and had to change everything to be able to add additional keypads and newer sensors.

Will this system work without paying for professional monitoring? And if so, can you arm/disarm remotely without paying the monthly fee?

Yes, and yes to both. It wasn’t always the case, but been doing it for years now. The free app is quite convenient for this.

This is great—thanks for the confirmation as I’ve heard conflicting reports!

This is a great price. The indoor camera is $99 by it self. Of these wirelss alarm system, Simplisafe is in the top tier. They continue to shoot updates to the base station to proactive tighten up the security integrity. You would need more door/window sensors and get the door lock. The $1 per day advanced monitoring is cheap and allows for remote control and if opted in the security can view the cameras during an alarm status.

Gosh!!! I just spent $700 on some stuff from Simplisafe. Now this deal!!! Where was this a few weeks ago??? Lol I ordered it anyway because more cameras won’t hurt and need another keypad.

Anybody know if it’s possible to use two base stations at once for better connections to router? I think devices connect to base stations and base stations to router.

Does this new system provide some alerts like “Front Door is opened” OR “Window in Bedroom-1 is opened” or so, with motion / entry sensors? i.e. do they specifically announce location of sensors?

The most recent update does do this for entry sensors. It will say “Entry Sensor Open” and there are a dozen or so pre-programmed names that you can add… For example, one of mine says “Kitchen… Entry Sensor Open”. Another one says “BACK DOOR… Entry Sensor Open”. Why it shouts “back door”, I don’t know.

Edited to add: “Entry Sensor” is same device used for windows or doors, so if you put it on a window, it will still call it an “Entry Sensor”.

Okay, Thanks. But think, before a year or so… I had tried to program these entry sensors with such names of “Front Door” / “Back door”…etc but I could not. So had called SS’s Customer Support and they said, “it is not possible and advisable to do so for security reasons ( e.g. if some intruder is trying to break-in from front door and you try to escape from backdoor, he would come to know”! ) As alerts without such names were more confusing to me…I had removed SS system at all. So was wondering, if possible, now to do so with new systems or updates. Thanks.

Yeah, the update rolled out about six weeks ago. They mentioned it in the support forums and I noticed in my app right before Christmas.

Great! Thank you.
But oh… this is ‘sold out’! :frowning:

I pay 9.99 per month to monitir myself.

I finally got around to setting it up. This video quality in poor light is awful, no recording of any kind without having a subscription. So if you dont catch it in act, you wont have a clue what and who. What a waste of money :man_facepalming:t2:
