Singer Fashion Mate Sewing Machine

Woot, where was this machine when I needed one 2 weeks ago? Darn it! My old machine of 28 years gave it up and I had to buy a new one, with less stitches & no cover for the same price.

My timing is not quite perfect.

Chinese bought the singer name. This equals crap.

Yup!

I had hoped there would only be one of these. I think it’s time for bed.

Sew, this is the home.woot killer.

It’s going to be that kind of thread.

So I checked this out a bit and since my last sewing machine experience (70’s Singer) they have apparently become magic. Just the ability to sew button holes automatically makes this a different beast altogether.

$50 less than Walmart.com (and they’re out of stock over there). It’s probably a great machine for the casual sewing interested - then again, an avid, experienced sewer wouldn’t be shopping for a new machine here OR at WallyWorld

It’s best to buy a sewing machine from a store where you can get services. Most stores only service machines they sell. Prices are comparable no matter where you buy- they have inexpensive ones and more expensive ones. When you think that it will last 40 years or more, getting the cheapest one makes no sense… IMO Getting the machine with the features you will use and need is the way to shop for a machine. I like buying at Costco because of their return policy, if the machine is a lemon - just take it back, if not you have yourself a 40- year friend!

Button holes are the only reason I had to buy a new machine- My '68 Kenmore is still working flawlessly!! But only did 5 sizes of buttonholes - had to move on!

Clearly you are a real sewer! For me it sadly makes more economic sense to get a cheap one and replace it when it goes wonky. (Repairs at my local shop are $55/hour I think…)

NEEDLESs to say… I’m ready for this to sell out.

Stores sell cheap ones too. I got a great one at Costco for $139
