These are great for new trees or in the hot days of summer when your lawn irrigation doesn’t get enough water to your trees.

I have no experience with these. However, from an intellectual thought process, one probably would not want to use them wrapped aound the tree trunk for very long - dry seasons only or only until a tree gets a good start at growth. When I see photos of wind toppled trees, a common element is a tight root ball and few heavy deep or long distance roots. Indications that the tree was trained to expect water close to the trunk. After a year or so, move the bag(s) away from trunks or water the ground deeper and not as frequently so roots go exploring.
