I see an audio in button so I can assume that I will be able to hook my phone or mp3 player to this? Can anyone confirm this? In this day in age that sort of feature should be in the write up since most people will be buying this as a speaker for their phone and not for the other features. This boombox is just 14 dollars more than the no name brand I got at walmart that doesn’t have a tape deck but it does have a place to plug in phone.
As an audiobook fan this is a great find. Many authors wrote books when cassettes were in vogue so this quality unit gives you the option for either cassette, CD or MP3. I actually bought one a few months ago at a discount retailer for $60 and it has been very reliable. Now I can have one for kitchen and craft room so I don’t have to keep hauling the other one around.
I knew this would be the most commented on post! Been using one of these (similar table top model) since what, 1988-1990? Earlier? For the AM/FM alarm and clock “features!”
I still have my cassette collection and the Sony boombox below. Some of my cassettes don’t have an mp3/CD to purchase (just like some of my VHS tapes have no DVD equivalent, and yes, I still have a VHS player). Maybe some day I’ll transfer them to digital media:
How cool almost tempted the player recognizing cds with mp3s is cool, would like a little more powerful one though, but this would perfect for a kitchen table. It would really be cool to have this Bluetooth capable. It would be sort of a swiss army knife of speakers then. I loved these back in the day.
On my first car, I went to North Hollywood (or was it Van Nuys?) and got a 4-Track car stereo installed from Muntz Stereo for $29. Never heard sound like that before, WAY above the original basic car radio, it was B.i.t.c.h.i.n!
These are actually great for disaster or power outage prone areas, if only for their ability to run off batteries and their AM/FM tuners. A radio can be a life line in a disaster, and I feel like most people only have one in their car anymore.
