I have both this model, and the preceding XM3 headphones (the older ones don’t charge as fast, and are a minor step back in noise reduction), which I find to be some of the absolute best in the wireless active noise cancellation market, as a balanced product. They compare very well in noise cancellation to Bose, and they sound wonderful, with some fantastic personal modifications that the Sony app allows users to apply. Gesture control on the earcups is not the most intuitive thing ever, but you can customize that easily in the app as well.
The biggest competitors would likely be Sony’s own later XM5 model (larger driver, and supposed improvements over the already-stellar ANC), or AirPods Max. However, I feel like the foldable nature of these, plus a refined and easily tunable EQ still put this offering ahead of Sony’s newer model, which puts out more bass, but can be a bit “muddy”, and doesn’t fold up as well for travel or storage. And against Apple, there is the fact that in addition to working fine on Apple, these play well with a variety of devices, rather than just one ecosystem, plus the foldable portability, the app/EQ, and all for a much lower price. Despite having tried several competitors, including those I listed, I refuse to give up on this set of Sony headphones. Liked them enough to buy a couple, actually.
Also, the silver is kind of a champagne gold-ish… Not a big thing, but I actually really liked that color.
Hope that helps anyone who is looking!
