What type of cable does it come with?
Not sure what you’re asking. It is a 3.5mm jack.
So it does not come with any cables? Just the headset itself?
That’s what I’m trying to figure out, where is the mic located on this thing?

From what I have read, the mic is an inline mic on the cable, so without a cable means no mic on this headset
yeah, just watched the video above and assumed as much
The description specifies two possible types of connections/cables: “A PC cable features an in-line, omni-directional mic with a sliding mute switch that connects to your PC via two 3.5mm jacks.” and “The Flux can also be used with a mobile cable that features an in-line, omni-directional mic and a button for control connects to your mobile device or Mac via a single 3.5mm jack.” Which of these, if any, comes with the headset?
This Techradar review is superior!
Is the quality good enough for just listening to music? I like that these don’t have a microphone sticking out, so it can pass as music headphones.
I don’t know why several people here can’t be bothered to read the specs but it says:
In the box:
- SteelSeries Flux Gaming Headset for PC, Mac, and Mobile Devices - (Your Choice: White or Guild Wars 2)
- PC Cable
- Mobile Cable
So, it comes with BOTH the PC Cable and the Mobile cable.
Before that it says:
Cable length: 2m
Jacks: PC Cable - Dual 3.5mm, 3-pole plugs; Mobile Cable - Single 3.5mm, 3-Pole Plug
[MOD: In their defense, we JUST updated that]
Just noticed, on their website they have these headsets listed in the “outlet” section, so they are probably phasing them out. If you are looking for the customization as a perk, the interchangeable pieces might become harder to come by.

From the techradar review:
The Flux headset is also surprisingly loud. It can crank out explosions and tunes at levels that’ll make your next ear check up at the doctor rather interesting. Things do tend to distort at the highest levels, and levels of bass the Flux puts out won’t satisfy hip-hop purists, but there’s enough for the average music consumer streaming his music off Spotify or Pandora.
So it sounds like the sound quality wont blow you away, but for 12 dollar over the ear headphones, I think that is kind of expected.
We’ve confirmed that it comes with 2 cables - PC & mobile.
I think they are on-the-ear headphones, no? Some people can be picky about whether it’s over or on the ear.
Yeah, they are on the ear.
Mine just came int he mail and they are really great! can’t believe I got 3 of these at this price… The dual cable is a bit short, but my son has front connections so he is OK… I’ll find an extension that’ll work for me and be fine.
Great Woot!
