I read some reviews on Walmart.com and they say that yes they are very hot - good call!
If you get a good price on a dimmer (and if it has good reviews) it may be good to get a second one for a spare. It DOES give a bit more distance from the plug to the lights-string. Iâm ready to put in a ceiling-mounted outlet, since I had electrical and video wiring put in place while redoing the pool-deck ceiling.
Please donât use those dimmers. Theyâre rated for 360W, and the light strings are 500W. Theyâll either fail or risk a fire.
Thank you.
Purchased these and just got them hung up and bulbs inserted. Plugged in and they do not work. Iâm sure itâs just my faulty unit since everyone else seems to have no issue, but pretty frustrating given you really canât test them out until youâve screwed in 100 light bulbs (which I unfortunately did as a last step because I didnât want to break them as I was fiddling with how to string everything up). Very disappointing.
Did you order 1 or 2 packs?
I guess I like to get out in left field with âwhat ifâ analysis⌠100 bulbs have a certain quality just because of the quantity - but what if you want one cluster HERE, another cluster over THERE. Consider how the string is wired - if you leave a gap between sockets-with-bulbs, the remainder DO all still light. So if your dimmer is only rated for 360 watts (and each bulb pulls 5 watts), only screw in seventy bulbs (350 watts) and space your bulbs out into useful, visually distinctive clusters (and now you have thirty spare bulbs, too). Iâd be tempted to find some other way to USE the un-bulbed sockets (theyâre up there, available âholdersâ; you just want to block the electrical contacts and preserve the option to use them later). Maybe you could do something colorful or sparkly in your overhead visual space.
Since now you HAVE available powered sockets, I might look for bulbs with reflectors so a bulbed-cluster could focus a bit more light on design elements or functional surfaces, etc. (those bulb holders would need beefier structure, to be able to hold position and stay on-point). Emphasize and draw attention to some favored chatzkis, etc⌠Your space, suddenly with more options to shape the look-and-feel with your lighting⌠Style doesnât always have to BE expensive.
I believe there is a fuse in the body of the plug, thatâs where Iâd check first if no lights at all. Of course, you plugged something ELSE into that outlet and did get power?
My 2 sets are in the delivery wasteland of unknown whereabouts. They never made it to my post office.
Yes I contacted CS and sent them a copy of the shipping logs, was told I would hear back in 2 days. I have not heard back yet and that was at least 4 days ago. I did send 2 fu emails to no avail.
Iâm guessing youâve already checked your spam folder. Maybe @ThunderThighs or @manlapig can look into it.
(Please note: I donât work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
Thanx - I am kind of holding out hope that they find a set of lights to send to me, but I doubt that is even an option
Somehow the things I really am looking forward to getting are the ones that either donât make it here, arrive in pieces or are something completely different. Most of the time I donât mind, it is kind of âfunâ to open the box and wonder what you will find.
I ordered a new super tall toilet ala Amazon, which, per the reviews has a 75% chance of coming in broken pieces-but the seller seems to be great about sending out a new one.
I love playing the UPS lottery
