Takeya Deluxe 2-Qt. Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Takeya Deluxe 2-Qt. Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Spouse bought the same product from Costco several years ago as part of a two pack Ours came with a tea filter (coarser filter than the coffee) and a white basket for fruit/herb infusions.

There are two gaskets which need to be removed for cleaning. One in the twist lid has a round profile and easily rolls off. There is a flat gasket in handle part that requires a pick to remove. We use a plastic pick from a baby bottle cleaning kit. There is a silicone cover on the handle that easily slides off. The whole thing is dishwasher safe. It just needs to be broken down into its individual parts before doing so. Our dishwasher has an upper silverware tray, so I put the gaskets there. The handle, handle cover, and lid go in the top rack and the main pitcher body in the bottom. Have not had any issues with the body warping.

That said, the clear plastic pitcher body is relatively soft and scratches easily even with just hand washing. Tea left in it for more than a couple days will leave a brown ring that takes a bit to clean, but it does come off.

Edit - Wanted to add these are very tall and skinny compared to other 2qt pitchers. About the same width as a 1/2gal of milk, and about 3 inches taller. We keep ours in the refrigerator door.

Further edit - Also on the height I have to raise the dishwasher upper rack to it’s highest position in order to fit the pitcher body in the bottom so the middle spray head can clear it.

Thanks for the details. I was wondering what the difference was between this and the tea version since they appear the same . Had one of the tea version back in 2015 and was wondering if I should try it again…that one cracked within a year or two. I didn’t really enjoy the loose tea experience, cleaning, etc., and since then acquired from Woot! a pair of Lustroware brand plain-old pitchers (w/ no inserts) and Taylor of Harrowgates Yorkshire teabags, which makes very good iced tea IMHO.

I purchased a 2 quart cold coffee brewer similar to this for my wife last year and she loves it. The only real difference is that the one I bought uses a 2 quart mason jar - it’s easier to clean than plastic and easily replaceable if it gets broken. I would recommend checking both Mason and Ball jars to see if the filter and top from this unit will fit one or the other.

I’m not normally a fan of plastic, but i bought the tea version of this a year or so ago. I go through a lot of tea, and i have definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it. I use regular tea bags (with the tags cut off) in the basket, and it works great. Mine has not scratched with hand washing, and it is absolutely leak proof IF you get the gaskets in correctly (i learned the hard way). The small footprint (tall and narrow) is great for us since we use pretty much every inch of our fridge. I like mine so much I’m going to buy this as a backup!
