Operates on batteries?
Found the installation guide. 3 x AA Batteries.
Actually it takes 4 AA batteries, not 3.
Draws about 150mA for a couple seconds with each actuation if the deadbolt isn’t obstructed and allowed to move freely.
It can draw excess current with shortened battery life if it binds while sliding, so it’s important to install it with an opening for full travel and centered properly.
Good info, thanks to you and TT
Does anyone know if this has the turn knob to lock it on the back side of the unit or not? I need one that doesn’t have the knob as my deadbolt is right next to a window.
Judging by the installation guide that TT posted above, it does have the knob to lock the deadbolt from the inside
It’s the only way you could lock it from the inside, so without the knob you’ll have to leave it unlocked when you’re home.
What kind of lock does it have now? Keys on both sides?
Getting some kind of shield to prevent a reach around would be needed with most locks that assume that the inside is secure.
There are deadbolts with keys on both sides. They’re actually more secure if you have glass side windows or stained glass on your doors that are easily broken.
Problem with that setup would be emergency exit in case of fire, trade-off of safety for security. Might not remember where the key is in a panic situation.
