TicKasa Vibrant Fitness Smartwatch

TicKasa Vibrant Fitness Smartwatch

Any opinions?

I’m really confused by the mothership listings. Each of these has a corresponding Amazon listing but all three link to a shared set of 85 reviews.

Yeah, Amazon mixes reviews for items on the same sale page. You can sort it though. Go to the “See All Reviews” page and scroll past the top two feature reviews. You’ll see some filters. The next-to-the-last one will let you choose the product only.

I was looking at the watch with the green band so it shows me:

When I selected the green band, I see only 1 review.

I bought the Vibrant Green.

Note that the description is a flat lie: it does not have GPS. That’s the whole reason I bought that model (the others don’t claim GPS).

Also (and unbelievable!): you can’t even set the time on the watch without installing the app!!!

I’m sorry for the issues. Please reach out to Woot! Customer Service. I’m sending an email to the sports team to check on this.

From a browser, use the Woot! Customer Service form.

In the Woot! App, choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

Concerns about the app:

  1. it’s only findable via the QR code in the booklet.
  2. it demands access to your Contacts and Camera (as well as the expected Bluetooth, Location, etc)
  3. during install, it displays “thank you for your purchase”, which had me fearing it charged me for something via Google Play… until I realized I’m testing this on an alternate phone without SIM or my normal accounts.

Otherwise, it’s quite comfortable. There’s no way to set time and date manually. It sets those by sucking it off your phone without comment. So, we’ll see.

Out of curiosity:

Does the app still work with those permissions denied, or does it force close if they are denied?

I don’t care about the app. I only used it to set up the phone. I’m not letting it upload any personal telemetry elsewhere.

Result?

The step counter seems really off as well, compared to my Samsung GS10.

We’re double checking with the vendor but other sites also state that it has GPS including Amazon.

This one has a video showing GPS in action:

You’re seriously going to argue with me about this?

Take a look at page 02 of the manual where the “binding” process refers to using the GPS “on your phone”.

I tried using Outdoor Exercise mode with just the watch on. Here’s what the GPS map looks like:

So. If it “has GPS”, I don’t see how it’s usable.

Hi there. I get that you’re frustrated. I wasn’t arguing and I did say we are checking with the vendor. I only stated that in doing research, we found other sites with the same information as ours.

We did just hear back from the vendor that it should have GPS. If it doesn’t, it could be you were sent the wrong watch.

I found this video on Youtube. Not sure it helps. Does look like it ties into your phone for mapping?

That’s all the info I can provide. If you’re unhappy with the watch, reach out to Woot! Customer Service.

Updates:

Step counter is REALLY off. When my phone says 1841 steps to a point in the day and the watch says 395 (and it increments random amounts when still), it’s really a worthless feature.

It seems to give no warning about needing a charge until it shuts down functionality altogether.

That video shows GPS only in conjunction with the phone.
