Quick heads up. This is a GREAT deal on a great little bluetooth scan tool with tons of capability. I have one and love it.
However, be aware that this product does have a subscription attached to it for functionality beyond that of a basic OBD2 code reader. It comes with one year of service, after which it costs $50 per year. You do have the option of purchasing in shorter increments of time (ie monthly or quarterly), or paying for a premium upgrade to unlock the “Topscan Pro” feature set.
In fairness to Topdon, there are very few pro-level, all-system scan tools that do not have a subscription, because there are recurring costs associated with development of the software, updates, and compatibility with all vehicles. I think there are a couple of lesser known scanners that have free updates, as well as the Gearwench scanners.
I can say, however, that you are getting what you pay for here, to some extent - I also have a Gearwrench scanner and my TopScan has more refined software, more features, and ties your subscription to an account, so it will work across multiple devices (unlike the GW, which will turn into a paperweight if you change phones and don’t still have the tiny activation slip that came in the box!).
That said, be aware that there is subscription involved here, though I feel it is worth the money.
