Perfect. Woot is getting back to their roots and giving us the kind of deals that were always their bread and butter. Can’t wait to see this in a BoC.
What kind of wine would you pair with this?
Actually a good question. I’ve not had all that much caviar, much less baller eggs.
Red’s okay, but champagne is best. Then again, I’d rather just have the wine; caviar’s not my favorite.
ooh yeah, champagne or maybe a nice vouvray would work.
Unit Price = $100/oz
Which is pretty high (about 50% too much so) for Transmontanus caviar. These are not wild caught Beluga, (traditional) Osetra, or Sevruga, which is to say they are not what were considered before 2009 to be caviar.
Basically these are fish eggs from the same genus as the eggs that were previously the famously expensive and gourmet caviars.
so if all 3 hours of purchasing have 33% purchased quantity split between 3 states-the deduction would be that 1 purchase per state occurred making them equal in ‘wooters wooting’. How does one of those states get a lighter color on said scale?
Mathematically (and hypothetically) speaking, it would be possible if, for example, 2 of the states had 4 purchases each and the third state had one. Not likely, though.
Description shows .5oz but the jars in the pictures show 1oz. Which is correct?
I believe the shade is based on the population of the state. If a greater fraction of the population is Woot!ing then the shade is darker.
Or $1599.89/lb
I’ve got to admit, the main reason I come to Woot anymore is to see the wise a$$ed comments in the Gourmet section. There’s usually some pretty good ones on any given day, lol.
Not a super deal but not a bad deal either. And Osetra is going to start at $300/oz. and go up from there. Plus you get a little sampler of styles.
One thing too, at this price don’t be afraid to experiment. You don’t have to stick with the producer’s less is more adage. Feel free to top a creamy soup, or any soup. Great on some good old fashioned vichyssoise. Top a salad or baked potato, be creative.
Yeah, I think I’ll stick with the croutons and the sour cream and bacon bits.
Aw come on, give it a try. Bacon is so over…ha!!
Photos show 1oz jars, description says .5oz, which is accurate?
So what you are politely saying is that this caviar (fish eggs) are harvested from a farm raised genus of sturgeon fish that were once caught wild and harvested for their eggs.
