I bought this the last go around. If anybody has any questions please let me know.
Did you put this in an existing “old school” fire place? If so did you just run an extension cord to it?
It went into the upstairs master bedroom. I already had installed your typical gas fireplace wall unit. We were going to run the gas line upstairs and get a gas logset, but did not get around to it. So in the meantime, we decided to go with this electric logset to see how it works. I wired an electrical outlet using the same hole that the gas line would use, i did not want to see a power cord coming out of my firebox. This will also make future conversion easy if we decide to go to a gas system.
I will take pics and upload them.
This elec log system reminds me of something Disney would use for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
Many thanks. I am dealing with an old wood fireplace that I want to get a gas insert for (not wanting that expense at the moment however). Your response just flipped the light bulb on in my head. I’ll eventually need to run gas anyway so no reason why I couldn’t just run electrical now and run one of these. This fire place will never use wood again.
Very cool, glad I could help.
Here is the Home Depot parts list for the outlet in the above photo. About $20 in total.
Aawww look how cute and helpful you are. Good job!
That really looks great
I was in a good mood. Don’t push it.
Is there motion in the flame. I can’t find any video demonstrating what this looks like on. I have seen some terrible looking logs/flames. I know it’s not real but how real does it look? Thanks.
I would take video and post but not sure how it would show up. The fake flames are better than most, if you stare at it too long you will begin to nitpick its technology. I had it on and it fooled a visitor at first until I told them it was fake. So I guess it’s not that obvious.
Looking forward to a video update.
