Like those wonderful sounds we humans make at wine tastings. I am envisioning future wine tastings where the Vinturi fits over tasters mouth…oops, I think I just started something at a Davis campus party!

Several whites would do well with decanting and thus (the white wine version of) one of these.
I think a mid-range Savennières would probably have wonders worked on it. Possibly a mid-range white Burgundy or Huner Valley Semillon too.
The cheapo quaffers that most people think of when they say “I don’t drink white wine,” probably would not fare as well.

I got one as a gift a year or so ago and hearing some people swear by it, tested it out by pouring a glass in a decanter, pouring a glass through this thing, and pouring a glass directly from the bottle. The Soiree is similar to the Vinoglobe only with a bit more texture to the glass. I got my Vinoglobe for eight bucks on closeout at BB&B. Works very well. Looking forward to head to head with the Vinturi.

I bought one of these decanters:

When I bought it, it came with a special funnel that included a filter and was designed to aerate the wine as you poured it into the decanter. The funnel is here: http://www.metrokane.com/site_files/product/rabbitwineshowerfunnel.aspx Costco.com had a combo offering of the decanter and funnel about 6 months ago. I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see why the funnel couldn’t be used by itself to pour only a glass or two of wine.

No - we took it on a two week cruise and improved the wine with every meal, as well as becoming very popular with the other winos.
The Vinturi has certainly received its share of positive reviews. Sleekly designed but I am even more drawn to the functional accolades and efficient by-the-glass convenience…IMHO. I will be interesting giving this a whirl instead of the usual swirl.

Don’t you think your leaking vinturi might be defective? And if it’s defective, it might not function very well?
Mine has never ever leaked out of the two side holes. It pours straight from bottle to Vinturi to glass to mouth to belly to bed. :happy:
Having used one for the Boss Monster, I agree that it is helpful.

I bought one of these from Amazon after hearing several friends, who I trust on the subject because they collect and drink wine I can’t afford, swore up and down about how great it is.
My take? I can taste a slight difference between the aerated glass and one straight out of the bottle. But it doesn’t come close to properly decanting the wine or even simply allowing the bottle to breath for an hour.
At $22 it’s a good deal, and if for nothing else, the Vinturi is a good conversation piece and a great gift for your yuppie friends.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention, it makes the most ridiculous slurping-whistle sound while you’re pouring the wine through it. It’s really laughable.
Vinoglobe looks pretty cool, as does the Decantus. Hmm… need to search for a head to head review of the three rapid aerators. Anymore I should know about?
I remember us talking in our store meeting about the white wine aerator. It’s the same thing, nothing different with the design. It’s just if you want to use two at once and don’t want to mix the wines. The color on the aerator is different. That’s all
