I really liked the one I used to have, with a dial for speed control, from quiet and slow, to loud hurricane, with your exact choice in between. This one is three speed. Sigh.

here’s the product website (which i believe has already been posted)

but here’s the user manual as well. (which has not been)

I got one of these the last time woot offered them. I didn’t get two, because I had another fan. Well, now that fan is being used for another purpose; so, I’m back to needing a second fan. In for one.

Bought one last time and love it. It doesn’t push quite as much air as my old fan, but it’s a helluvalot smaller and quieter. I sent the old fan home and kept the Vornado in my dorm, where space is limited.

At max setting it can be slightly loud, but Vornados have a higher airflow-to-noise ratio than any other fan I’ve seen. At this price, you really can’t go wrong.

I wish Vornado made computer fans. :stuck_out_tongue:

Love this video about how Vornado engineers create their Vortex Action.

These are great. Go ahead and put it in one corner of a room. Tilt it up and point it to the ceiling in the opposite corner of the room, and let it run. It really does circulate air everywhere! If your desk happens to be in that opposite corner, lowest setting = comfortable breeze.

And they are very well-built! I took mine apart about a week ago to clean it up a bit, and the fan blade looks more like a 3-bladed boat propeller.

It has been said already, but as I sit here and type with my wonderfully refreshing air tantalizing my keying fingers - I must say that this fan is my favourite woot ever.

Gosh, couldn’t resist, in for another.

Best fans ever

Edit: And I got my 100+ Woot off of this! Vornado, is there anything you can’t do??

Also, remember to clean the fan regularly! I’ve only had mine for a month but it was barely moving air the other day (I run it 24/7). Cleaned that sucker with some compressed air and it was like brand new again!

I Feel your pain. I have the one of the older ones built in the USA with the Variable speed control I bought in the 80’s. It used to have some sort of built in thermostat that had a option to switch on that would speed up or slow down the fan as the temperture changed. My fan runs 24/7 all year around to circulate the air and It finally broke after about 15 years of use. I called Vornado in Kansas where a friendly English speaking person answered the phone. My Fan had a lifetime guarantee which has been changed to 5 years. Anyway they sent me the Box to ship it back to them and even paid the shipping cost both ways. I had it back within a week but they had removed the thermostat option which was a switch on the base I would click on or off on the base. I paid $99.00 for this Fan and that was sometime around 1985. I don’t regret buying it and have bought 2 others since, one at Woot. My Old one is still running and very powerful. I dont think it is noisy at all on medium setting and the white noise it does make on higher settings helps me sleep. I highly recommend this fan and would never buy another brand. It is sad they have shifted their factory to China even though they still repair them in Kansas. The Lifetime warranty is also gone forever. This $30.00 price shipped is a steal, believe me. ** Could Not resist the deal, Just ordered My brother one who will really appreciate it helping him move the warm air around sitting at the ceilings of his big house that has lots of cold spots. He really could use 3 of them but so could everyone!

With an extension cord and a little bit of duct tape I made my pet squirrel quite an awesome backyard hovercraft! He loves it and it is a blast to watch. Plans are in the Apr 2009 Popular Mechanics mag…

I ordered this 2 months back from woot! The box arrived looking like this…

The fan still works good, but hopefully they learned that they need to place this box inside of a real box.

Get 2 on Woot for less than 1 ($69.99)on the Voranado site price! This isn’t rocket science!

I rent a house with radiant heat IN THE CEILING. Not sure how any builder ever thought that it was a good design, but this fan looks like a perfect “solution”. Thanks again, Woot.

I’m a “fan” of these fans. Witty, I know.

I own to of these and they are the best fans for the size, on the market! I keep one near my exercise equipment to keep me cool while working out. I keep another in the bedroom for Summer, so I can take it easy on the A/C.

Gettin’ another to use as a floater. One that I can move around the house and garage without disturbing the other fans.

Paid $60 for one at Home Depot just a couple of months ago, so this price is insane!

Very random question: do you think that there is anyway I would be able to fit this as travel luggage on an airplane? I need a good fan for my place in the Caribbean and shipping costs a ton to the Island of Dominica… thanks so much

Yes, as long as you use a soft-sided bag, it should fit easily. I have one right here, so let me measure the depth of it. It’s 8.5" deep, so measure the depth of your bag. Also, it’s 13.5"(H) X 12"(L). It weighs about 4.5lbs.

As others have stated, these really are amazing fans. Not to mention, Vornado is a tremendous company. I’ve purchased several Vornado fans, however the last one I purchased arrived defective. When I plugged it in nothing happened but I smell a burning scent. As Woot normally advises contacting the manufacturer of products directly before contact them, I did as advised. When I went to Vornado’s website I also saw that if you have a problem with one of their fans they prefer you contact them instead of where you purchased the fan. I sent their customer service department a brief email and received a reply within 24 hours saying they were sending me a new fan and I could cut the cord off the defective one and throw it away. Two days later I had a new working fan. That kind of customer service is very rare today and I was quite impressed. You buy this fan knowing you’ll receive a quality product and if you have and problems you’ll receive great help from a reputable company.
