I was actually tempted to buy one of these to keep my bottle of water cool at work, but they sound too loud.

[MOD: Different Model]

Common theme seems to be how loud the machine is. So, it may help drown out that nagging wife…

If the bottle is no larger than 3.5" in diameter

We got this as a wedding present about 6 months ago.

We really enjoy it, and it works pretty well. Very easy to use, basically a plug 'n play operation. It has numerous wine temps programed into the chiller, just select the wine type and press select; and then wait for the beep!

If I had one complaint, it would be that the chilling fan is a bit noisy, but if you keep it in the kitchen, and the guests are in another room, I doubt it will cause any bother.

At this price, I would say go for it if you’re in the market for a simple and functional wine chiller. If this one ever breaks, we’ll probably get another one we like it that much. Just don’t pretend it’s anything more than a wine chiller and most wine guys and gals will be happy with it.

Throw down another $9 + tax over at Wally-World and you can do 4 at a time for those days when Clearly… 1 bottle just ain’t gonna cut it!

Actually that is a great idea!
You could (With a lot of custom work) put a Mini ITX board on the bottom and still (maybe) have room for 2 bottles on top and have a sweet Home Theatre PC. In order for it to still function as a proper wine chiller you would have to use liquid cooling but that’s not that expensive anymore.

I was excited to buy this item !

I was even more excited to return it to the store after a frustrating week of it not performing well at all.

I’ve used these things for beer to good effect, but the picture inspires a question; what kind of philistine chills red wine?!?

Red wine should be served at 60-65 degrees, so unless that is already room temp, everyone should chill red wine.

A container to hold the bottle + ice cubes + water + salt = chilled wine in less than 7 minutes.

This review posted by a consumer on Amazon convinced me this gimmick is a waste of $.

This chiller does have a library of grapes to allow you get set your bottle to precisely the right temperature. However, you should know that if you are looking to chill a wine served cold (whites), this device is going to take a long time and is better suited to adjusting the temp for wines that have already been chilled in the refrigerator. The other downside is that the chiller is extremely loud, so much so that we’ve moved it to another room if we were trying to watch a movie. The noise is the main reason we do not use it often.

Seems there’s a lot of confusion over the purpose of the chiller/warmer…it’s not a rapid chiller - as another poster mentioned- use ice/water bath for that if needed - or get one of the many cheaper rapid chillers out there. It’s to drop a room temp red to cellar temp, or bring a white up from fridge temp to the drinking window you prefer and keep it there. I’m tempted…
